Prologue (Halie)

 "Guys! Take cover!" Jamison shouted. We ran into the nearest cave as hale the size of bowling balls smashed against the ground. We were cold, wet, tired, dirty, scratched, and starving.

"Where did that even come from?" Beck whisper-shouted over the boom of thunder. Her long brown hair had twigs and leaves sticking out everywhere as she pressed herself into Jamison's embrace. His poofy green-dyed hair was drooping and tangled.

"Probably the same place yesterday's tornado came from," I said, tying my abundance of orange hair into a ponytail. "Or the crazed bears, or the tsunami, or any of the stupid crap that's been happening to us!"

I punched the wall that was right in front of me, popping one of my knuckles. I cringed at the pain and stuck my ring-finger in my mouth. Daniel sighed and hid his tanned face in his hands.

"This is so stupid," he groaned. "I told you this was a bad idea a week ago."

"Well, a week ago we were still in Saint Bournchilde, not on a stupid island in a stupid cave with a stupid maniac cackling every time we almost die!" Jamison said. He was usually so calm and collected, but this manic island had taken it's toll.

"We need to get out of this place," Beck said quietly as if none of us had been thinking that for the past seven days.

So, where were we? Why were we here? Why is everything out to get us?

Well, to answer that, we need to go back about a week...
