Ice cream

"What kind of ice cream do you want?" you asked me as we stepped into the little cafe on the edge of the town.
I looked at what they had to offer. It wasn't a lot and the flavours didn't have names which freaked me out. What if I say something and I get it wrong. Would he laugh at me? Would he even care?
"I'm not sure yet." you answered and returned your gaze to the ice cream flavours.
I watched the flavours desperately trying to decide whether to take the brown, yellow or green one. I had a slight idea which flavour they were, but I wasn't sure.
"I'll take green apple." you said to me.
"Good choice, I'll just take vanilla." I hoped that was it.
We took the ice cream and you paid. I felt terrible after, beacuse you always paid when we went out. Which wasn't a lot of times, but we did go out.
We headed down the stairs and to the little canyon that the river in our town carved during the years on this planet. We sat down at one of the benches a little bit away from all the people and the river. You immediately regretted it, because you enjoyed watching and listening the flow of the river. And I enjoyed whatever you enjoyed.
While we were eating ice cream I could finally get a better look at you. I've never once seen you before. I was looking, but I didn't actually see you. Your hair was ruffled and it looked like you had just taken a shower and your hair just dried and stuck out in every dirextion possible. You were smiling at something you thought to yourself and the next moment you turned to me and said.
"Look, the man wants to throw the ball for the dog, but he's afraid he'll make us wet."
"I don't mind getting wet." I said.
"Neither do I." You showed the man it was okay to throw the ball. He smiled and threw the ball. It bounced on the surface of the water and the big black dog ran after it. He splashed all around but thankfully we didn't get wet. You smiled. I smiled because you were happy. I could see how calm you were. How you acted like a child once you were back in the nature with all the flowers and plants you loved. I love that about you. How every little thing makes you so excited. Every little animal is like a miracle of life to you. I always act like you're overreacting and you're childish, but we both know it's just an act.
You snap me out of my thoughts when you ask me: "What is your favourite disney movie?"
You caught me by surprise.
"I didn't know you watched Disney movies."
"Oh, yes. I love them. My favourite is Tangled. I love all the songs and I think Rapunzel is the best character to not walk this Earth." you answer.
"I never picked you as a Disney movie kinda of person that's it." I try to defend myself. "But I have to admit, it is one of the greatest movies ever made. You know which one I really liked? Coco. It was amazing. The stoey was marvelous. I loved it."
"Yes, it is amazing. I loved it too."
"God, I have to watch it again. I haven't in such a long time." I explain.
"Maybe we could meet and watch it together." you propose.
I smile. "I have no idea how we could manage, beacuse you know your parents are always home and I live in a tiny apartment buliding with my family. We wouldn't have peace." you quickly explain.
i nod. "I'm sure we'll figure something out."
we both smile and get back to our ice creams.
I can't help but imagine us in our house on the sofa watching a disney movie. You lying on the couch with your long legs spread in front of you. Me, little me having my head in your lap. You stroking my hair absent-mindedly while we watch the saddest movie ever made by Disney. Or maybe we both sit. Us leaning on eachother, you holding your arm around me. Me being curled up to you.
"How about we do it next week?" I say.
"Next week?"
"Yeah, nobody will be home, beacuse they're going somewhere and I'm home alone. We could do it then." I quickly explain.
You open your mouth and then close it. "yeah, that could work."
We both smile. I look in the distance and I notice the dog and the man that were here just a minute or two ago and smile to myslef. If had turned I would have noticed that you smiled to yourself too.
