The uncharted island (reg slivko X reader)

Intro

Hi. Before we start I thought I would give more context on the backstory of Y/N. It will help situate yourself with the characters and the story better.

Just a reminder that English is not my main language so if you see any mistakes just let me and I'll take a look at it. Now without further ado, let's get into it.

Y/N's POV

I grew up without a mom. She died during labor so since I was just a baby it was only me and my dad. But that changed when a family moved next door to me. I was 6 when they arrived in the neighborhood. I quickly became really close with their youngest child Jack although he was a bit older than me. We grew so close that not even a year after they moved in we called each other brother and sister. The Chapmans really became like my second family.

As we grew up, I started to study zoology as a profession. Jack started chowing his interest in the army and my dad started showing symptoms of his illness. I lost both of them in the same year. Jack went to fight in the Vietnam war and my dad succumbed to his sickness. By that time Jack was hitched and had had a kid. Because I was too young to live by myself, I moved in with her and my nephew.  I continued to study zoology and graduated. 

That brings me now to these two men sat across from me at the kitchen table.

"so what did you say you needed me for again" I asked the older guy with the beard. "We want you to participate in an expedition to this uncharted island. We need you to identify and register any new species that we might find there and also identify any kind of nesting area that could be dangerous since we don't know anything about this place and what it hides" he answered honestly.  "And what do you need ME for exactly. I mean you could ask any other zoologist that's more talented than an 18 year old fresh out of school" I asked trying to process what he was wanting me to partake in. " Well, you see this mission is more like an off the records type off thing. We need people we can trust and you've been recommended to us by one of the participants in this expedition." the younger guy cut in. 

"If I say yes to this expedition of yours, how much am I expecting you to pay me" I asked cutting right to the chase. Lately, I had been trying to save up for an apartment for when Jack would come back so I wouldn't be in the way. " We were thinking about..." he trailed off slipping a pretty big pile of dollar bills across the table. My eyes widened a bit while I counted the money.  I deliberated a bit before I finally said " All right, I'm in".
