I was sat in a chair by the wall, my eye's roaming the room to see if I recognized anyone except Jack and his team. that was there. "Hello and welcome. I'm Landsat Field supervisor, Victoire Nieves" the short man at the front of the room started. My mind started to wander as he introduced more people who were supposed to be joining in on the expedition. "You're dropping bombs?" I heard a strong accent say beside me. I sat up, suddenly interested in the presentation. "Scientific instruments" Dr. Brooks corrected, making me scoff a little. " you hear that, boys?" I turned my head looking for the one who had just spoken. " we're scientists now!" I laughed, my eyes finally finding the brown-haired boy that had made the sarcastic joke.

" We'll then land and make base camp for ground excursion led by Mr. Conrad" Mr. Nieves continued not paying attention to the sarcastic comment. He then gave the floor the jack who started explaining how we'll get there and how we'll get out. "On the island, my team and I will escort Miss Y/N as she identifies any living creature that might be unknown to mankind" all eyes turned on me as my cheeks flushed a bright red from all the newfound attention. I gave the group a small wave my eyes meeting those beautiful green ones that I had seen earlier. He gave me a small wink before turning his attention back to Chapman. He said a few more things and then we were all excused to leave.

I was about to walk through the door when I felt someone tug on my arm. I turned around to see jack with a wide grin plastered on his face. " where are you going?" He asked me. " Umm. I was gonna go to my room and probably read. Why?" I answered curious as to what he was really asking me. "Well, some of the boys wanted to get to know you so I told them I was going to bring you with me after this." He said obviously stressed to see what I was going to answer. " umm yeah sure. Let me just go get a jacket from my room and I'll come to find you" I hugged myself feeling the cold air hit my skin. " great. We're all going to be in the ship's dining hall" he gave me a small pat on the shoulder before jogging to catch up with his friends.

I walked into the cafeteria with my arms now covered in denim, my eyes looking around the room. " over here" I heard a low voice say from my left. I turned around to find Jack sitting in a circle around a table with the 4 boys I met earlier. I made my way to the table only to notice the only seat available was right next to Slivko. I sat down, our knees bumping as I did so. " What game are you guys playing?" I asked as I saw cards laying on the table. " go fish" the boy beside me said with his eyes focused on the cards in his hands. " but you're late so you're going to have to wait for the next round to play" mill sassed across the table. " she can play with me " Slivko said almost too eagerly. But it seems I wasn't the only one to have noticed because they all started to share glances with each other. I scooted a little bit closer to be able to see his cards. He looked down at me our eyes connecting for what seemed like the 100th time. " so Y/N, exactly how old are you?" The guy known as Reles asked me. " I just turned 18," I replied. " Wow, you're only a few months older than me," Slivko said, a little surprised by my answer. " oh so you're into older women uh reg" coles joked making the both of us turn a slight pink.
