Ariana's pov
Dalton had been staring at his laptop for hours and I was starting to feel lonely. He had been overworking himself the past week and we barely talked to each other.
"Baby, come on, you have been overworking yourself lately, you need a break," I wrapped my arm around his torso as I messed up his hair.
"Hold on babe," he said, still focusing on his work. I sighed.
"Baby, we're barely talking to each other, you're getting way too stressed out," I said. He ignored me as he continued doing his work. I was starting to worry about his mental health. He's just stressing himself out way too much. I just needed his cuddles and that's all.
"Baby," I softly touched his shoulder.
"Can't you see I'm busy?" he snapped. My heart sunk. He usually always has time for me no matter how busy he gets, but he changed so much recently.
"You're just stressing yourself too much, it's not good for your mental health, I'm just saying this because I care about you," I said, trying not to cry.
"I know it's really stressful, but everything is due tomorrow morning," he snapped.
"We're barely talking to each other, I feel like we're drifting apart, I just don't want our relationship to end just because we don't have time for each other," I said as a tear started to roll down my cheek.
"Well, you're just being dramatic, this is a really important project for the company, it's just a one-time project that takes a few days then it's done," he defended himself.
"Well, if you think your work is more important than me, then fine!" I stormed off. I locked myself in the bathroom and started crying on the bathroom floor. Does he not love me anymore? He doesn't even have any time for me.
"Baby?" he knocked on the door. I ignored him.
"Baby, please don't ignore me," he knocked on the door once again.
"Go back to doing your work, it's more important than me," I said through the door.
"Baby, please," he begged, "I'm really sorry."
"No, just go back to your work," I insisted. He sighed and rang someone on his phone.
Dalton's pov
I just realized that I broke her heart by not having any time for her. She's right, I was focusing so much on my work to the point where I barely talked to her. I decided to call my boss and ask him to extend the due date, because the love of my life is more important.
"Hi Dalton, is everything okay?" I heard his voice from the other line.
"Not quite."
"What's the matter?"
"I'm not sure if I can finish the project you assigned me on time. My mental health had not been in a good place lately, and I barely have any time to spend with my family, so I hope you understand," I explained.
"That's okay Dalton, I understand, spending time with your family is important," he said, "I noticed that you have been working really hard since the very beginning, so I'll give you another week to finish it, I hope that's enough."
"Thank you Sir, that means so much to me."
"You're welcome Dalton, I hope you will keep up with the good work."
"I will, Sir, don't worry," I replied before he hung up.
"Baby," I knocked on the door once again, "I just called my boss, he gave me another week to finish it, we can now cuddle."
She unlocked the door and I immediately saw her crying on the bathroom floor. Her eyes were red and puffy from all the crying.
"I'm s-so s-sorry," she cried. My heart broke, now she's blaming herself even though it was all my fault.
"Shh... don't be sorry baby," I rubbed her back, "I should be the one who's sorry, you just wanted what's best for me, but I snapped at you for absolutely no reason."
I gently picked her up and carried her to the bed. I softly kissed her head and lied down next to her.
"I'm so sorry baby," I whispered.
"It's okay baby," she lightly smiled.
"Wanna cuddle?" I asked her and she smiled. I wrapped my arm around her body and placed kisses on her face. Starting from now on, she will always be my top priority.
