While Wanda and Seraphine were walking towards the house they were telling some things about themselves to get to know each other. "So what is your story?"Wanda asked."What do you mean with my story?" Seraphine asked her. "What did you do in your life? Have you always lived in Sokovia? Or have you had some weird adventures or something that made you, you?" Wanda responded. "Oh well I was born in South Sudan but I lost my mother when she gave birth to me," Seraphine said. Wanda immediately felt bad that Seraphine had to bring this up because she asked. "So I grew up with my father and brother, it wasn't so easy but my father worked really hard so he could take care of us which I am so thankful for," She continued. "But when I was seventeen he made a really bad fall on his work which he didn't survive. So my brother and I were sent to our aunt, she lived in this house. Until she asked us if we could bring her to a retirement home because it became harder to take care of herself and didn't want to bother us. At first, we said no and took care of her but she kept asking so we let her eventually go to the retirement home. If that was something that made her happy we were willing to give her that. So my brother and I were alone and took care of each other." Seraphine said with a weak smile. Bringing those memories back made her a little sad
Thinking about it Seraphine missed her dad so hard sometimes but she only had good memories of him. He was the kindest and most hard-working man she had ever known. She loves him so much and wished she could see him one more time. She remembered he invited the neighbor over because she was alone and also had to work very hard so she barely had free time or time to cook a meal. So her dad would invite her over to eat with them so she could have a healthy meal and don't worry about cooking and she would feel less lonely when she was with them. At first, she would refuse the offer because it was too much to accept and she wouldn't want to be a burden. But her dad wouldn't give up and kept asking until she said yes. It were such nice evenings when she came over and everyone was so happy.
Sometimes Seraphine misses those moments and wished she could go back in time. She still has contact with the women but not so much anymore. They have their own lives now. Her neighbor had her own family, she had met a beautiful woman and they had a very kind son. He recently became a father of a very beautiful daughter what makes her neighbor a grandmother. Seraphine was so happy for them and supported them through thick and thin. Sometimes she would go and visit them and it was just like old times. But it was a long trip and expensive so those visits were rare and happened once a year maybe twice. In the beginning, they would send letters but took so long before the letters arrived that they stopped and only visited each other.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to get so personal," Seraphine said. She didn't know why she would tell her whole story to someone she just met, but it felt good that she could talk about it. "It's alright, I am so sorry you had to experience those things. I also know how it is to lose my parents, I know how hard it can be sometimes. If you ever need to talk about it you can always come to me." Wanda said in the hope she could comfort Seraphine a little bit. She knows the feeling of losing somebody that is so dear to you all too well and she surely doesn't wish this for anyone to happen.
"That is so kind of you thanks."Seraphine was surprised that Wanda would say that to her. Wanda, an avenger was trying to comfort her, she thinks she still doesn't understand what is all happening right now, the fact that she is talking to an avenger and that she is going to live with her for a while is just so surreal.
"Well if I can always come to you to talk if I have it difficult, you can also always come to me if you want," Seraphine said to Wanda on which she responded:" That is very kind of you thanks and also thank you for offering your home to me. If there is anything I can do to return a favor you can always come to me." "Oh, that's no problem really, I'm glad that there will be somebody else in the house," Seraphine said. If she must be honest with herself she was really glad she had found someone to live with because although it is a small house sometimes she feels lonely and the house feels so empty. It makes her miss her family. Sometimes she invited her friends over so she would feel less lonely but when they left she had that empty feeling and just wanted that there was someone else with her in the house so it wasn't so empty and quiet anymore. That is one of the reasons why she is most of the time outside, so she didn't feel like she was trapped inside. It was good to clear her mind. Mostly she was working in the garden or try to fix some things in the house because it is really old. And sometimes if she didn't want to work on the house or in the garden she went to town to meet up with friends or go thrift shopping or something else. She was thinking about getting a pet, but every time she was looking for one she began to overthink everything. What if the garden isn't big enough? Will she have enough time to take care or train with it? Would she be a good owner? Those thoughts would scare her off and made her think it wasn't maybe the right time to take a pet in the house.
"You also said that you had a brother and that he lived with you but left, do you still have contact with him? If I can ask of course," Wanda said. "Of course you can ask, yes we still have contact with each other but not so much, he has it very busy. He studied to become a doctor and is now volunteering in third world countries to help the people who are sick and need treatment," Seraphine explained. She was very proud of her older brother and was happy that he could do something that made him happy. When they were little he would always take care of her if she had a wound or a splinter or if she was not feeling well. He is a very caring person and will always make sure that people feel well. And it brings him joy if he can help people and put a smile on their faces. She is very happy for him that he can do something that makes him happy and that he can help other people. She misses him a lot but if he is happy, so is she.
"That is very generous of him, what is his name?" Wanda asked. "Warrick," Seraphine said. "That is a very beautiful name. In what country is he now?" Wanda asked. "I'm not very sure because we haven't spoken to each other in a while, but I think he is now in Burkina Faso," Seraphine said.
The conversation went on for the rest of the walk to the house. It was about half an hour from town if you go by foot. The house wasn't accessible with a car because the house was in the forest, but you could go by foot or by bike.
When they arrived at the house it was around six pm. It was a very beautiful but old house. You saw there was some work to do but also that there was a lot fixed already. The house was made of wood and surrounded by trees and there was a large lake It had a cute porch with a hanging chair. There was a beautiful garden filled with plants and flowers and, there was even a little herb garden and a greenhouse You could see that Seraphine liked to be outside and work on the garden. It was surrounded by trees and it was there except for a few birds very quiet and peaceful.
"You have a beautiful house Seraphine," Wanda said, and although she doubted about coming with her this was the place she was looking for. It was very quiet and it looks like not many people will come by. "Thank you," Seraphine said, she was flattered by the comment and happy that Wanda liked the house.
The inside of the house had the same as the outside. It was very cozy and felt very peaceful because there were only natural colors used in the house. There was a nice living room with a fireplace and a wooden stair that leads to the second floor, a kitchen with a dining room. In the kitchen was a glass door that leads to a patio with a picnic table and a parasol. and like the garden the house was also filled with plants. Seraphine was very proud of herself that she could keep them all alive and they made the house more natural
"The inside of the house is a beautiful as the outside," Wanda said a little amazed because on the outside the house looked small, but on the inside, it felt spacious. "Thank you," Seraphine said a little shy. She wasn't used to getting such nice compliments about her house. Her friends are more for modern houses but when they saw how happy Seraphine was with the house they tried to adapt to it and if she is happy then they are too.
This house was exactly what Wanda was looking for, it was very calm and isolated from the world. When she went inside she immediately felt comfortable because the house was peaceful and natural with the wooden accents. She was lucky that Seraphine had convinced her to stay with her and She was also happy that Seraphine was there too so she had someone to talk to. She doesn't know why but when she was with Seraphine she felt comfortable, which she wasn't with a lot of people. She still doesn't know if she can fully trust her but she doesn't mean harm right? She had also a feeling that she knows Seraphine from somewhere but she doesn't know from where.
