Hehehe! My favorite part of the story. I love creating characters and then seeing how they interact with each other.

The way I like to create my characters is by making them all different. Make them unique. Whether it's the way they look or their personality, make 'em stand out. Does anyone else get tired of when the same hot, blonde guy, with a personality that attracts all the ladies is in a bunch of different books? I sure do. If I have a character who looks simple, I like to give them a personality that stands out and vice versa. Sometimes, I'll give them a unique name too.

My main tip for characters: Makes sure you know all of your characters before you start writing. And I don't mean, knowing their name and what they look like. I mean knowing EVERYTHING about them. What's their favorite food? Who do they like to hang out with? What's their darkest secret? It helps a lot if you google "character sheets for writers". These will help you know more and more about your character. Sometimes it can be tricky, but overall (in my opinion) it's pretty fun.

Okay to help you out, I'm gonna create a character and you can do the same with me.

Step 1. Most of the time I start out with what the character looks like.

Female. Mousy hair and crystal blue eyes. Rosie skin. High cheekbones. Sharp and delicate face. 15 years old. 5'5".

Step 2. Pick a name. Note: you can create your character's name, whenever. It doesn't have to be the second step.

Wanda

Step 3. Personality. Just go crazy man! but make sure your personality makes sense for you character.

Is helpful, always thinking of others. Similar to an empath. Extraverted. Great listener. A bit of a hot head.

Step 4. Family.

Mom and Dad. Two younger brothers (Daniel and Max) and an older sister (Chole). Get's along really well with Daniel, but doesn't get along with Chole.

Step 5. Friends. (the more friends you got, the more times you gotta do these preparations)

Indigo (F). Nora (F). Hannah (F). Owen (M).

Step 6. What makes this character unique?

Has ADHD. Doesn't have a phone.

Step 7. Extra little details. (you can add whatever little things you want)

So that's about it. Of course you can make your character as complicated as you would like, but you don't have to. If you want to have a strong, well built character, I recommend using a character sheet or searching for character questions.

As always, I hope this helped. If you want more character stuff or have any questions, just put it in the comments.
