Chapter 1

(A/N: I write too much reigisa, oops)

Rei took off his glasses and rubbed his tired eyes. He had been studying with Nagisa for hours, and it seemed he had lost track of the time. He looked out the window and noticed it had already gotten dark.
He nudged Nagisa, who was sitting next to him on the bed. Nagisa was deeply buried inside a textbook, but Rei could see he was exhausted. Nagisa had made it his goal to never be the one to suggest a break, no matter how tired he got.
"Nagisa-kun, it's really late, maybe now would be a good time to stop?" Nagisa looked up from his book and sighed in relief.
"I thought we were never going to stop, Rei-chan!" he giggled and closed his textbook. "Well, I guess it's time for me to go home!"
Rei immediately felt guilty. He knew Nagisa had to walk home every time he studied at his house, and he didn't want the small boy to have to walk home in the dark. It was his fault for making them study so long. He owed him.
"Um, Nagisa-kun... If you'd like you could sleep over! I just don't want you walking i-" Before Rei could finish his thought, Nagisa had launched himself onto Rei and wrapped his arms around his neck.
"Oh thank you thank you thank you a billion times Rei-chan!" Rei could feel a blush creeping up his neck.
"I-it's no p-problem Nagisa-kun!" Nagisa sat back down on the bed, his eyes wide and filled with excitement. "This is going to be so much fun, Rei-chan! We can do whatever we want all night long!" Rei choked at the particularly suggestive wording, and Nagisa gave him a strange look. "Is something wrong, Rei-chan? You're acting really weird!" Rei blinked and stared at Nagisa.
"W-weird? I-I'm not acting weird, I'm perfectly normal!" Nagisa laughed and poked Rei's cheek.
"Whatever you say, Rei-chan!" He bounced off the bed and walked over to Rei's closet. He pulled out a huge white t-shirt and started walking to the bathroom. "I'm going to get changed, and then you and I can have a g-rei-t time!" Nagisa winked at Rei and closed the bathroom door.
Rei's heart was racing. What's happening to me? He thought. Why do I feel so embarrassed around him? He's my best friend, I should be able to stay around him without being so nervous and clumsy and- Suddenly everything became clear. There's only one logical explanation for all of this. I have romantic feelings for Nagisa-kun... He shook his head. That's impossible. Love is ridiculous. To be caught up in something as human as love... But for some reason, he had constantly caught himself wishing he could wrap Nagisa in his arms and never let go. Everything about him, his beautiful maroon eyes that always shined whenever he saw Rei, his adorable curly hair, the sweet smiled that was always plastered on his face... He spent every free moment thinking about him. Maybe he really was in love.
His train of thought was interrupted by Nagisa opening the bathroom door. He had adorned Rei's t-shirt that was clearly too large on him. It had always been a little big on Rei, anyway. It reached all the way down past his waist, sort of like a dress. He wasn't wearing any pants. "I hope you don't mind, Rei-chan. I didn't think any of your pants would fit me, so I just wore a long shirt!" He giggled and jumped on the bed, dropping textbooks onto the floor. "Oops, sorry about that, Rei-chan!" Rei blinked and shook his head. "I-it's alright-" his mouth was hanging open slightly. He thought this small act of lending Nagisa his shirt seemed very much like something boyfriends would do. The thought made his face flush.
"Rei-chan?" Nagisa inched closer on the bed. "You don't look very good..."
Rei gasped and closed his mouth. "I-I'm perfectly fine, Nagisa-kun!" Nagisa moved closer and squinted his eyes. "You really think I believe you, don't you, Rei-chan?" He pouted. "Well, I happen to know you better than anyone else, and I know there's something bothering you." Rei could feel his face getting redder. Nagisa sat back. "Oh, am I making you uncomfortable?" His face fell. "I'm sorry Rei-chan, I didn't mean to get all close to you, I know you don't like it-" he cut off as a tear ran down his cheek. Rei felt his heart break at the sight of Nagisa getting upset. He put his hands on Nagisa's shoulders and looked into his eyes.
"Y-you aren't making me uncomfortable, Nagisa-kun!" he stuttered. "A-actually you um- you sort of make me feel a b-bit too-"
Nagisa's face turned immediately from a sad expression to a smirk.
Rei felt his face turned an even darker shade of red. Nagisa leaned forward, his eyes squinted. "What are you trying to say, Rei-chan?"
Rei felt as if his heart was going to break out of his chest. "I um- I was just trying to say-"
Nagisa leaned in closer. "Don't be shy, Rei-chan..."
Rei somehow turned even redder. "I think I- I mean, it seems th-that I-" He couldn't seem to force the words out. He was so worried that he might lose their friendship, was it really worth it? Rei decided he would take that chance. He took a deep breath and muttered, "I think I'm in love with you, Nagisa-kun..."
Nagisa said nothing. His face was completely blank, his eyes wide. Rei immediately regretted saying anything.
"I-I'm sorry Nagisa-kun! I d-didn't mean to freak you out or-" he stopped as the small blonde started giggling uncontrollably. "N-Nagisa-kun...?" Rei asked, concerned at the dramatic mood shift.
Nagisa tried to speak between giggles. "Y-you think- I-I'm-" He clutched at his stomach. "Oh you're too much, Rei-chan!" After a few moments he was finally able to stop giggling. "Rei-chan, I've had the biggest crush on you forever." Rei's mouth fell open.
"Y-you- y-you w-"
Nagisa giggled again. "Everyone knew but you, Rei-chan. You never even picked up on my constant flirting!"
Rei choked again. "Flirting?"
Nagisa made an even greater smirk than before. "Oh, I dropped every hint I possibly could. But you were so clueless, you never noticed!" Rei couldn't get over the massive relief he felt. Not only had Nagisa not been turned away by his feelings, but he returned them.
"Oh, I'm so glad you finally told me, Rei-chan, because there's something I've been dying to do."
Rei tilted his head. "And what is that, Nagisa-kun?"
"This," Nagisa said, pulling Rei forward by the fabric of his shirt and kissing him.
Rei was taken off guard, something that happened quite often to him whenever Nagisa was around.
He could feel a warmth spreading from his cheeks and down to his chest. Nagisa's lips were warm, and surprisingly sweet. Although that shouldn't have been too surprising, considering Nagisa's sweet tooth. His arms moved almost as if by a reflex down to Nagisa's waist. After what seemed like eons Nagisa pulled away from him, a huge smile on his face. "You're a pretty good kisser, Rei-chan!" He said, poking Rei's shoulder.
"P-pretty good?" he scoffed. He must have looked pretty disappointed, because Nagisa started giggling uncontrollably again. "Aww, you're so cute, Rei-chan!" he beamed, leaping onto Rei and latching his arms around his neck. "N-Nagisa-kun!" He gasped as Nagisa planted tiny kisses on his cheeks. "You're so cute, you're so cute, you're so cute!" he sang.
"Alright alright Nagisa-kun I get it!" he said, laughing. Nagisa shifted and rested his head on Rei's stomach. "Ooh, I've always wanted a hot boyfriend." He reached his hand over for the side table where he left his phone. He lifted it above him and took a picture while he posed with the usual peace sign. Rei just smiled. "Now I can show everybody! Oh they're going to be soooooo jealous..." he sat up and started texting the photo to everyone. Rei sat up and looked at Nagisa with a concerned expression. "W-wait, are you sure it's a good idea to-"
Nagisa grinned. "Too late!" He shut off his phone and put it on the side table with a dramatic stretch. Rei was slightly surprised as his newly appointed boyfriend let out a yawn. "Tired already, Nagisa-kun?" he asked. "Yeah, that was a lot of studying you had me do, Rei-chan..." He curled himself up against Rei's chest. "It's okay if I sleep like this, right?" Rei blushed. "O-of course you can, Nagisa-kun! I-I mean, I don't mind..." He noticed that his words were falling on deaf ears when he heard Nagisa begin to snore. He took off his glasses and turned off the lamp they had been using to study. "Goodnight, Nagisa-kun," he murmured. You know, maybe he could get used to this whole "love" thing.
