I trained as hard as I could,  tried as hard as I could, and pushed as hard as I coud. My mother's sweet face flashed before my eyes as I flung myself through the air to dodge his attack. I usually kept my long hair held back with my blades, releasing them from my hair, the wind thrashing all around me. I aimed and I threw, using as much muscle as my arm would allow. The blade came in contact with the flesh of his arm, his shreaking scream stopped me in my tracks. I ran over to Kain lowering myself to his slouched body. He had remained in his werewolf state so that his body may allow itsself to heal quickly. I lightly touched his arm, running my finger slightly over the wound. A breathless smile played acrossed his lips, sweat trickling down his forehead.

"You'll be ready in no time Jaiyde."

Somehow, a smile got the best of me.

"Kain i'm sorry, sometimes I just get ahead of myself..."

" Maybe we can chat about that later but right now you might want to turn around."

His body had begun to take its human form again, my eyes scanning his muscular chest. I spun around on the balls of my feet, my face flushed. A giggle escaped his lips.

   "  See you around Jaiyde."

I folded up one of the practice mats before entering the showers; my clothes clung to me from the sweat. I let the heat from the shower blanket around me before allowing the water to dance on my skin and glisten like diamonds from the florecents. As I stood lathering my hair, my mother's smiling face filled in the darkness of my closed eyes.

" Why did you name me Jaiyde mommy?"

   " Don't you know?"

Her smile was so effective; you couldn't help feeling the sense of warmth radiate from it. I remember this day. She held me in her lap holding me close, the drumming of her strong heart rhythmically pounding in my ear. I gazed up at her with wondering eyes, I was only six.

"Haven't you ever looked yourself in the mirror before Jaiyde?"

   "Yes..."

She laughed and grabbed her side mirror, placing it in my tiny hand. What was she trying to show me?

   "Look at your eyes Jaiyde."

I stared directly at myself, focusing hard waiting for something to happen. Her reflection appeared behind me, her smile from ear to ear.

"Your eyes Jaiyde, don't they remind you of gem stones?"

Right then, something did happen. She was right; my eyes were magical. Swirls of blue and green flickered in the light. I giggled and held her close, tangling my fingers in her hair; this was the memory I last had of her...

"Jaiyde! save water for the whales! hurry up!"

I jumped shooting my eyes open, soap trickled down into them, stinging them.

   "Dammit!"

I turned toward the shower head flushing them out, washing the remaining soap out of my hair and turning the water off, throwing my hair up in a quick bun. I dried myself off and threw on sweats and my over sized hoodie. Glancing at myself in the mirror wiping away the mist on the glass, I couldn't believe that my last memory of her was over eleven years ago, though I remember like it was yesterday. I found Kain waiting for me fully dressed outside of the locker room.

   "Hey good lookin."

I laughed shaking my head. Kain had been like a good brother to me, he's all i've ever known after my mother.. That's why he was helping me now; helping me train... helping me get ready for them..
