Chapter 6

Taehyun sat in silence, letting everything loom over him.

It was a little hard considering that Soobin was full on sobbing, he wasn't good with comforting people like this.

He reached out towards the elder, rubbing his back continuously until it seemed as if Soobin's breathing steadied. He sighed, "What did I say about keeping me in the dark?"

"I-I'm sorry."

"Shhh, it's okay. I'm not mad, could never be mad at you." Soobin nodded. "What are you planning to do?"

"I guess I'll go along with the marriage...I can't disappoint my parents again."

"Soobin, baby...look at me." Soobin looks at him with teary wide eyes. "You're twenty-three. Back then, I would've understood this mindset, and I did. I know how much your parents acceptance means to you, but you're allowed to decline. The worse they can do is kick you out, and you don't even live with them. You're doing great on your own, and you have been for a long time. You're smart, incredibly talented, and good-looking. You have a future in whatever you wanna partake in. Just listen to your heart and let it lead you, because listening to your parents won't make you happy in the future, right?" He nods.

Soobin looks at Taehyun, "You called me baby."

Taehyun stares.

"Is that what you took from that?"

"No, it's just...that made me smile. I don't know what I'm talking about, ignore me."

"No no, keep going. I want you to be completely honest with me."

"It's embarrassing!"

"Oh shut up." Taehyun laughs. "Come on, tell me."

"I think I'm in love with you."

Silence, Taehyun swears he hears a paperclip drop.

"Was that...wrong to say? I shouldn't have done that." Soobin lets out a breathy laugh. "This is why I can't open up to people, I say the wrong things."

Taehyun wants to say something, he's so desperate for a sound to come out, but nothing does. Soobin gets up, letting Taehyun's hand fall to the bench. Soobin doesn't even realize he's walking to his car until he turns it on and starts driving off. He can't seem to feel anything, but the familiar feeling of being numb.

Taehyun doesn't hesitate to grab his phone and look for Kai's contact, pressing the call option.

"Taehyun?"

"Uh...I need a ride."

"What? What happened to Soobin?"

"He...He drove off without me."

"What? Is he insane? Taehyun, tell me what happened right now. Please don't tell me you said something stupid."

"Why would I be the one to say something stupid?"

"I don't know? Maybe Soobin is mad at you-"

"He confessed to me! And drove off without letting me speak."

There's silence on the other side of the line. "Send me your location, I'm gonna use Yeonjun's car."

"Thank you, Kai."

"Yeah, but you better tell me everything later."

"I will." He hangs up and sighs, "I will."
