I woke up. My head was spinning from pain. I looked down and saw Coconut (my little sister) was sleeping on my tail.
"OW!" I yelled. Coconut woke up and looked guilty.
"Sowwy sissy..." Coconut said, looking at her talons. I felt bad.
"It's OK, my little coconut!" I said, pulling her into a tight hug. We just sat there until Mother came home. She picked up Coconut and kissed her snout.
"Hello, my little baby!!" She said, twirling Coconut around. Coconut didn't like the way Mother gave her affection, but she didn't want to hurt Mother's feelings. I was the least favorite child, so I decided to leave. When I got to my room, I flopped down and began writing in my diary.
"Dear diary. Today is already a bad day and it's not even 7;00!! I don't understand why Mother HATES MY GUTS!! She's hated me since the day I was born. I think I should run away from Mother and this STUPID RAINFOREST!! Maybe I should bring Coconut..."I stopped and began to think. I continued writing."Do I really want to bring Coconut? Should I put her in that kind of danger just so I can have some company? I should ask... But then she might tell Mother... And I can't risk that happening. I'm going ALONE."
It was about 10:30 pm when I began packing. I snuck into our food room to get enough food to last me about a week. I put my bag down and began taking a decent amount of food. I heard some rustling behind me and my scales turned green. I turned around. Nothing was there. Then my sloth, Fluff, crawled over and climbed up to my neck. Fluff was a baby sloth, so he was like my son.
"Aw Fluff...! I whispered, "I can't leave you behind...!" I kissed his forehead and grabbed the sack that I carried him in.
"Hop in!" I said "Pleeaassee???" Reluctantly, Fluff got in the sack. I buckled it to my neck and put the food in my bag and picked it up.
"Oof!" I grunted, "This is heavy...!" I ignored it and Fluff and I left.

"Dear diary. I'm pretty deep into the forest right now. I kee[ seeing Mangrove and Orchid looking around for food. Fluff got stung by a bee and almost blew our cover. I have to resort to tree bark for bandages. Also, my bag started moving the other day... I'm going to open it in a bit... MAYBE..."
I grabbed some berries and handed them to Fluff. I put my diary away and saw a distinctly rainwing ear.
"THREE MOONS!!! COCONUT???" I yelled, falling back. Coconut poked her head out and beamed at me.
"Hai sissy!" She said cheerfully, eating a banana."How did you get in there??" I said, confused.
"I snuck in!" She said, hopping down. Fluff made a cute noise and held his arms out to Coconut. She walked over and picked him up.
"Why did you come? What about Mother?" I asked, astonished. Her smile fell a bit.
"I don't like Mommy..." She said quietly, "I like you more..." My heart fluttered. I walked over and picked her and Fluff up and sat them down on my lap.
"Thank you..." I kissed both of their foreheads. That night I couldn't sleep. I decided to write in my diary to clear my head.
"Dear diary. It was Coconut that was in my bag. She said she liked me more, which is sweet and makes me want to cry. Poor Mother is going to be alone. Kinda weird how I love Mother, but Mother loves Coconut. And Coconut loves me, and not mom. LOTS of family drama.I think I'm going to stay in the forest because it's easier to get food. Plus fruits are much much better than meat. Welp that's all my thoughts."I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
