Softly, yet roughly, the rain fell
Abruptly, yet slowly, the lightning flashed
Loudly, yet gently, the thunder bellowed
The people rushed out of the streets to escape the oncoming storm
Men, women, and children rushed to save themselves from the drenching rain
As the cars rolled down the streets, not a person was seen
Not on the sidewalks, or exiting the tall, sky toppling complexes
Yet there stood a girl
Not too young, yet not too old
She looked lost and confused, as if she didn’t have a place to go
Her clothes were worn and tattered, looked as if they’ve never been washed
Slowly, yet cautiously, a man approached her
He was a handsome man, looked to be in his mid-twenties
He reached his hand out to the now sitting girl and asked, “Do you need a place to stay?”
Looking up to see the man’s face and she slowly nodded her head, there was no place for her to go, so why worry?
She accepted his outstretched hand and followed him to his car
He seemed like a nice man
Young, handsome, he even drove a nice blue and white ford mustang
She thought for once someone had finally noticed her, to help her for once in her life
As she hurriedly got into the car she almost thought, “Should I get into a strangers car?”
That thought should’ve crossed her mind, but alas it never did
The next day another bellowing storm came across the city
As everyone exited the streets, rushed into their cars, not a single person was left in the streets
The girl was never seen again after that fateful night
