It stood there blindly looking at us in the crop circle. It was almost midnight, so we could only just about see its gleaming eyes. Its stick like legs trembled towards us. Oscar and I stayed close together, backing away slowly. It tiptoed out of the circle to see what was staring back at it. Oscar gasped as he saw what was standing at out feet.
It all started way back in 6th Grade science class when we learned about different planets and how there might be life on them and blah blah blah. You probably don't want to hear me recreate the "fascinating" lessons of Mr. Matcher though. I swear to God he's a walking text book. He always has some "Interesting fact to tell you every time you see him.
Anyway, my friend, Oscar Williams, (He said he's related to Robbie Williams, from that weird British band, Take That, but I don't believe him.) Well, he was really into this kind of stuff, like REALLY into it. I'm still afraid he's gonna turn into Mr.Matcher one day. So, he decided to start a club called ELFS. Extra-terrestrial Life Form Seachers. Don't ask. I joined, just so he didn't feel isolated. Well, it was a good thing I did seeing as only two other kids joined.
ELFS was boring for a while. Every week, Oscar would tell us another "amazing" story that he had read off some Alien website. Everyone found him fascinating except for me. Well, I didn't until this report appeared on the news the next day; "Sightings of Unidentified Flying Objects in North Carolina". Oscar went mental after hearing about it. That's when things started to get a little more exciting. He ended his club and set up his own in his parents basement for just him and I. I've been going round there every Wednesday since that day 4 years ago. I'm pretty sure he basically lives down there now.
I, however, now have my own apartment. Well, I say my own, but I have to share it with my prissy little sister, Caitlyn. She drives me insane! Its always "Megan, Megan, can you take me to the Mall? Megan, Megan, do you like my new outfit?" I still love her like my own though. Every night, we snuggle up on the sofa with a blanket and a bowl of kettle corn as we talk about our day with the latest season of House of Cards on in the background. Its perfect.
