Atsumu's P.O.V
"ATSUMU!" His name was what he heard right before someone jumped at him from behind, a pair of hands rapping around over his shoulders, almost causing the bleached blonde to stumble into the middle of the road. His phone slipped out of his hand and he yelped in response. A car whizzed by dangerously close.
"Jesus- Ryu, what the fuck!" He whined bending down to scoop up his phone only to be put in a headlock by his best friend, Tanaka, who proceeded to aggressively ruffle his hair.
"I haven't seen you in ages, man. Lemme be excited!" He chuckled as Atsumu groaned and shoved him away. He stepped back for a second and deadpanned at Tanaka who gave a sheepish smile and shrugged in response. The sun stung his eyes as he squinted to examine Tanaka and it finally hit him just how long he hadn't seen his best friend for. It really has been ages. Giving in and breaking out into a grin, Atsumu out of revenge, pocketed his phone and put Tanaka in a headlock back.
"You really weren't joking when you said that you grew your bald head out, virgin." He laughed, pulling Tanaka's black beanie off his head.
"Oi! Don't- discriminate against- bald people. I was s-sexy." Tanaka struggled to speak whilst attempting to break away from his grasp, grabbing and pulling at Atsumu's white hoodie. They both rough housed a little, passer-by's giving them odd looks as they proceeded to try over-power each other, laughing.
A year. When Atsumu moved out abroad to study, it'd been over a year that they haven't seen each other. They weren't really ones to face time or video call, so it was shocking for him to see Tanaka come back with a head of wavy black hair. He would never admit to it, neither would Tanaka, but they missed each other. A lot.
They met just when Tanaka's old classmate and Atsumu's twin brother started dating about 2 years ago and, ever since then, they were no different from brothers. Although they started off on bad terms because Atsumu commented on Tanaka's lack of hair on his head which made Tanaka throw his orange juice at him, they still got along.
"Boys! Stop acting like children." The two 'children' in their twenties let go of each other, panting, to face a pretty black haired girl smiling at Atsumu. "My little piss hair baby has gotten so handsome." She teased as she pulled Atsumu into a tight hug whilst Tanaka belly laughed at her remark, grabbing his beanie out of Atsumu's grasp. It was very unexpected from a girl like Suna to say that, but Atsumu had a knack for having everyone he knew pick on him.
"You're still gonna call me that, Suna?" He pouted, refusing to hug her back.
"Get used to it." She finished her embrace, still holding onto Atsumu's shoulders as she stared at him. Atsumu caught a drop in emotion in her eyes for a quick second. He knew what she was thinking. Of course, being Osamu's twin, Atsumu looked like her boyfriend. She probably got reminded of everything that happened; the reason as to why the Miya twins moved abroad and left everyone in the first place. Even Tanaka, the emotionally oblivious one also caught on to what was happening.
"He's better now." Atsumu quietened his tone in an attempt to reassure Suna. He was never the best at comforting someone, but since they both saw what had happened to Osamu, Tanaka included, he knew exactly what she wanted to hear. He knew because he wanted to hear the same thing too.
She gave a weak smile before letting go of his shoulders and turned away from the two boys. He couldn't blame her for being like this. He blamed Osamu. He blamed his brother for everything. He was still amazed that Suna chose to stay with him. She could have saved herself the trouble and left him. Continued on with her own life. Fuck Osamu.
Tanaka and Atsumu shared a quick glance.
"Well, let's go see him then. It's what we're here for aren't we?" She began to walk away from them. The boys hummed in response and followed a second after, a clear shift in atmosphere surrounding them as they slowly started merging into the crowd of strangers that walked the streets.
Tanaka awkwardly shoved his beanie back on and smoothened out his black sweater. Atsumu stared ahead at Suna. She swiped at her eyes.
He's better now.
