The spring has brought me life, it has cared for me, nurtured me. It has done everything for me and I am going to protect it. I thought growling at these strange things that entered the boundaries of my territory. I bared my teeth at these unfamiliar creatures, I snarled in my most ferocious tone.

The things stared at me for just a moment then burst into laughter.

How dare they laugh at me, where I am from I am the most ferocious one out of my whole pack. One of the things stopped and reached it's large and tough looking paw down twords me. I hissed and growled to let it know that I will bite at any given moment. Yet, the thing still reached for me. I snapped at it's unprotected paw and it stumbled back a few paces.

"Damn kid!" It yelled. I turned and hightailed it back to the rest of the pack to warn them of the trespassers.

"There are tall and unafraid creatures near, I don't think they are friendly!" I barked at the alpha. He turned to me and wrapped his paw around my shoulder.

"Listen Maiyun. There's something that the pack and I have been keeping a secret from you..." he trailed off not wanting to speak of this secret.

"I fear that it is time that we are meant to part ways, and leave you with those things." He said licking the inside of my ear. I cocked my head in confusion, what was he trying to get across? I was a part of the pack, was I not? I winced again as he turned to me once more carrying a small object in his mouth.

"What's that?" I asked, sniffing the object. He placed it down in front of me and nudged it forward. I sniffed it a bit more an recognized a few scents, that of my mother's mine and our alpha, but I picked up one more, one that I did not recognize.

"What is this?" I asked him, pawing at it. I felt some sort of connection to this tiny thing. I looked at it then back at our alpha.

he looked down for a moment with a solemn look. I trotted over to him and snuggled his face.

He looked at me with a sad but happy look. Then we heard it.

The hurting howles of our watch pup, we sent him out there to keep watch for there was never any danger.

The alpha stepped out of his little cave crack, going to warn the others of the terror to come I presumed. But he never did, he only stood by his rock and sat. Before I knew it the rest of the pack was following his lead, nearing the rock and plopping themselves down on the dirt. I went up to them sniffing their chests but not one of them moved every time I would nudge one of them a bit they would growl at me and nip me a bit if I didn't stop.

I don't understand, I'm only a pup what's going on? Why is everyone lining up as if they were preparing to be killed? I began to yelp at them begging them to move even an inch so I would know that they were ok. Not one of them moved even a bit. They all sat there like statues and didn't move a muscle, it didn't even look like they were breathing. I heard a lot of stomping around by things that were not one of us. I wiped around looking for what could've caused the noise. But deep down I already knew what it was, I was just trying to keep myself from thinking that reached thought that had been in the back of my head since earlier.

Please. I thought. Don't let it be true.

I had never once seen myself, not in the water or in my packs eye reflections, not once had I ever known what I looked like. Not once.

I feared for what was to become of my pack. What was to become of me. Then I saw them once more, the tall creature that I had bitten and one of it's friends. I growled at them once more beconning the other to join me. But they never did. I became scared, terrified of what was going to happen to everyone I know, everyone that I love. the ones that raised me, the ones that were my friends.

The things came ever so close to us. I nipped at the alphas feet pleading him and the rest to run and flee from these things. He just growled and nipped me once more. I whined and howled in agony that they wouldn't follow me. As if they knew what was to become of them when these creatures met up.

The things that were approaching were carrying these long sticks, but they didn't look anything like a stick, only the shape resembled one. I became fearful of them and whimpered at the alpha's feet, tail between my legs. I was so scared of these things, though I didn't know what they were capable of I knew that whatever their intention was it's not good. I looked up at the alpha once more when a sickening sound came from the creatures. The next thing I knew the alpha was on the ground bleeding and whimpering like I was. My ears fell limp. Now the only thing that was keeping the pack together and out of fights was presumably gone.

The rest of them only flinched a bit but stayed put. the pup whimpered and ran to their mothers who quickly shooed them away with a ferocious growl that started from their stomachs and crawled up their throat. I heard many more shots after that. One by one my family fell limp and their sent mixed with blood and something diabolical. I barked at the things that had caused this but when they drew near they kicked me out of the way throwing we up against the alpha's rock, knocking me unconsious.
