Mikaela was staring off into the colorful hues of pinks and yellows that the sunset was creating. He felt the mist of the salty ocean hit his pale skin but never truly felt the coldness that it brought with it too. Even if he himself was cold to the touch, he couldn't really notice the change in temperature.

Sometimes it was nice, but most of the time he wished he could feel the coldness of the snow during winter and the beating heat of sun during summer. He'll admit, he was a little envious of Yuichiro and his human companions for that reason.

His thoughts were interrupted when he heard the sound of sand being crushed beneath feet. When Mikaela turned he saw Yu making his way towards him with that ever growing smile on his face.

"Wow! You heard me from that far?" Yu said shocked.

Mikaela chuckled to himself over how easily impressed Yu has gotten over the years. Much more different from the anger filled Yu he had met as a child. When he was last human..

"Have you forgotten that I'm a disgusting bloodsucker? Our hearing is a thousand times better than a humans.."

"Hey! Don't call yourself that! And I can totally hear just as good as you- maybe even better!" Yu said as he playfully bonked the other mans head. A small smile formed on the vampires lips. Something that Yu was able to catch a glimpse of.

"Is that so?"

"Absolutely!"

"Whatever Yu-Chan says..So, did you just come here to harass me or do you need something?" Mikaela joked as he fixed his curly blonde hair.

Yu nodded profusely, "Yes! You see I was thinking-"

"That's concerning"

"Hey!"

Mikaela laughed before he muttered a sorry and encouraged Yu to continue. He didn't miss the way the other was hiding something behind their back as they spoke.

"As I was saying, I was thinking about the fact that today is the first day of May and ya know it's been awhile since celebrated it together so I decided to look around for something you might like!"

Mikaela was not following what Yu was saying. He was confused about what the date meant and why he was looking about for something he'd like. Truth be told, he himself doesn't know what he likes anymore, attachment to anything materialistic was basically impossible for Mikaela because he's a vampire. Vampires lose everything such as desires and feelings. Although, that doesn't seem entirely true as Mikaela was still strongly attached to Yu. He was thankful for that fact.

"Im a little confused about the importance of this, Yu-Chan.."

"Wha? You forgot your own birthday?!"

Ah, now Mikaela understands. It's been awhile since he celebrated his own birthday. After the day he lost his entire family, time became nothing but a blur. Time was a meaningless concept, his birthday being included in that. He had no use for it because he was destined to live for eternity and he felt if he counted each year he's lived it would drive him to insanity.

"I guess I have.. I never had a reason to celebrate it when I was in the vampire city." Mikaela answered. Yu could hear the sadness from that melancholic voice.

"Well now that you're here we can! Oh! Here's your gift!"

Mikaela's vision was now filled with the color blue. What was clutched in Yu's hands was a beautiful boquete of flowers. The flowers were a stunning shade of blue with a little hint of yellow in the middle of those pedals.

"After a fight with a Horseman of John I saw these flowers and thought these would be a nice gift for you! Shinoa said they were forget-me-nots whatever the hell that means-"

Mikaelas heart was hammering in his chest. He didn't know he could still do that but Yu always manages to impress him in a multitude of ways. How did he cross paths with such a person? Whoever was kind enough to Intertwine their lives, he will be forever in their debt.

The blonde gazed fondly at the raven haired man. A furious blush quickly spread across his milky skin and before he knew it, his body moved on its own. Yes, fate, this was the fate he oh so longed for because the moment his lips met Yu's soft ones he couldn't help but feel like Yu was the man was who he was destined to be with.

Yu was in shock when he felt the others lips crash on his but it was welcomed. He let go of flowers, letting it fall, so he can wrap his arms around the other mans neck and bring them closer. The butterflies he felt in his stomach were running wild as the kiss continued for longer.

It was passionate but not in the sinful way. It was filled with nothing but love and adoration. After reuniting, the two new that the light they had once saw each other in changed. The platonic Familial love blossomed and it grew into a nice rich red rose. Yu never thought he would ever love someone else in such a way but Mikaela will always push him to cross new boundaries and break those tall walls that used to surround his heart.

Disappointment swelled in Mikaela as he parted with Yu's lips to get air. The twos foreheads touch as they huffed. Yu was the first to break a comfortable silence.

"I love you"

The smile Mikaela made was the most beautiful smile Yu had ever seen. It's a real wide smile that he hasn't seen since they were kids. It made Yu's heart leap.

"Yu-Chan's love is all I could've asked for.. I love you too"

"Happy birthday, Mika"

There the two stood, on the sand, near the sea as the sun became a dim light and as the sky was being slowly decorated with thousands of stars.

In each other's embrace.
