"So, Launchpad, how long have you been working for Scrooge?" I lean over to him, watching as he gently steers the yellow submarine. He has a large smile on his face, and when he sees me, it grows even larger. "To be honest, I don't really remember. I think my early 20's!" I smile and nod, looking at the water through the glass windshield. "Is it fun? Or does he keep your head spinning all day long with his Scroogieness?" I fake a pout, then quickly smile at him and I chuckle to myself.
He only smiles and turns back to look out the windshield. "Nope! He never bothered me! Sure, he's been grumpy. And grouchy. And... a whole lot of other things, but he's a great boss!" I smile at him. Yep. He's already gained my trust. And that's not an easy task. I was about to make more conversation, when I heard Dewey yell. "Dive! Dive!" "Aye Aye!" Launchpad solutes, a determined look on his face as he starts to steer the sub deeper into the water. My eyes widen as I see water pouring in to the sub. "Launchpad, wait!"
*Que Intro!*
Scrooge had managed to close the hatch before more water was able to flood the sub, but it was still enough to cover our feet and reach our ankles. Webby and Louie started to pump the emergency pump, and Scrooge and Dewey slid down the ladder. Dewey ran over to Launchpad and I, and I saw Scrooge toss his phone to Louie, mumbling something before following Dewey.
"(Y/n)! Can you believe we're on an adventure!? This is insane!" Dewey cheered, bouncing on his heels and knees as he clenched his fists in front of his chest. I smiled at him, ruffling the feathers on his head. "I know, this is pretty exciting, isn't it?" He glared at me as he fixed his hair, but his smile quickly returned. "I'm gonna go find Huey and see if he knows anything about Atlantis's booby traps and death causing horrors!" He ran off, and I only chuckled, shaking my head slightly and folding my arms.
He ran past Scrooge, splashing him slightly in the process. Scrooge braced himself for the small droplets, before smiling at Dewey and turning back towards me. He walked over and stood next to me, staring out at the small interior of the tub, watching the kids each do their things. I joined him in his gaze, smiling. My brothers were so happy right now, all of them finally experiencing what they should've their whole lives.
Scrooge sighed, causing me to turn and look at him. He had a sad smile, and was still looking at the boys. "They sure have grown into rambunctious lads, haven't they?" I returned his sad smile, then looks back to see Dewey jumping from one seat to another, pretending to dodge booby traps as Huey, Louie, and Webby watched on, smiles on their faces. My smile widened a little more. "Heh, yeah, they really have."
He turned to look at me, which I did the same to him, and was about to say something else, when all of the sudden Huey jumped in front of us. "Travel Bingo!" He shouted, holding up pencils and paper. I smiled at him, and he continued his thought. "I love road trips! I've got snacks, a playlist of traditional sea shanties, matching family road trip shirts!" He pulled out a large, red shirt with a yellow submarine in the center, then quickly pulled it over Scrooge's head.
Scrooge looked at me confused for a moment, before I smiled and shrugged. I don't know how he got the shirts so quick, but hey, that's Huey for ya. Scrooge stuttered for a second as he took off the shirt, then tossed it onto Launchpad all while adjusting his belt. "I appreciate the enthusiasm, but there's no time." Huey raised a brow at him, holding up all of his papers. "But according to the travel itinerary-"
"BOOOOOO!" Dewey grabbed Huey's papers and tore them up, earning a disapproving glare from me. He shrugged and continued on with his thought. I'd have to talk to him about that later. He jumped over the seat and looked at Huey with a bit of a pleading look. "Adventuring isn't about planning, it's about doing!"
With that, he ran over to the control panel and smiled, pressing all of the buttons and saying ridiculous things. In the meantime, I decided to help Huey pick up the bits of paper, before putting them in the trash. I rubbed his head a little, giving him a smile. "You know he doesn't mean to be rude, right?" He gave me a little smile, before turning to look back to Dewey. "Hey, I'll talk to him about it." He looked at me with a smile.
