Elle cried out in pain when the knife plunged into her arm. She sank to her knees, clutching the bleeding wound. Ivy shrieked. She was about to say something, but Elle shook her head slightly, letting her know they had to continue the charade. Ivy got on her knees, straddling Elle, and sent slow knife stabs raining down on her. Elle had enough time to roll out of the way of each one, but she was getting weaker, because her arm throbbed in pain at every movement. Elle struggled to her feet, her hand now covered in blood from holding her wound. Ivy charged again, making sure she had Elle's full attention this time, and Elle swiftly ducked under it.
Between punches and stabs, Elle glanced out the window to see the progress of the BAU coming to save them. She knew they were all in the house by now, and they just had to distract Samuel a little longer.
Ivy had Elle pinned to the ground, the knife raised above her throat. Her eyes were panicked. "What do I do?" they said. Luckily, she didn't have to do anything, because at that moment, their coworker and friend Derek Morgan body-slammed himself forcefully into the room. "Oh thank god," Ivy gasped, and let the knife clatter to the floor. "I need medical, right now," Derek yelled into his walkie-talkie. Elle laid on the floor, her breathing labored. "It hurts like a bitch, but I'll live," she groaned. "I'm so sorry!" Ivy cried, trying to push Elle into a sitting position. "Shh, Ivy, it's fine. You did what you had to do," she assured. "A couple months ago, I would've had your head for this." Ivy managed a small chuckle. "Don't I know it," she agreed.
A few moments later, she saw Hotch forcing Samuel down the stairs in handcuffs. "We got him," Elle breathed, and promptly collapsed back onto the floor.

A couple hours later, Elle had gotten sutures for her wound, and the two of them were back at Ivy's house. Neither of them wanted to be alone that night. "Thanks for letting me crash here," Elle said. Ivy shrugged. "No problem. I had to return the favor." Elle had brought her own bag, and was changing into her pjs. Ivy already had hers on, and she was perched at the edge of her bed. It was four in the morning, but they had time to sleep in because Hotch had called them off work for the following day.
Elle pulled back the blankets on Ivy's bed and sank into the mattress, pulling the covers up over her. Ivy crawled over to her side and did the same. "Hey, get over here," Elle scolded, and she looped an arm around Ivy's waist and pulled her close. Ivy backed into the curve of Elle's body and laid her head on Elle's arm. Elle curled herself into a "C" shape, and wrapped her other arm around Ivy, protecting her. Ivy sighed contentedly. "Elle?" she said. Elle gave a little grunt in reply. "Thanks for saving my ass today," she whispered. Elle squeezed Ivy a little tighter. "It's no problem, but don't expect to ever get into trouble like that again, because I won't let it happen," she murmured. Ivy didn't say anything. The two of them fell asleep soon afterwards, and Elle held Ivy like that the whole night through.

~Two Days Later~
"Suspended?" Elle cried. "But we got him!"
Chief Erin Strauss shook her head. "Yes, but you both could have been killed."
"But we weren't," Ivy protested. The girls both looked to Hotch for help. "I'm sorry," he said. "but I stand by her decision. Elle, Ivy could have been killed because you didn't tell the team where she was going, or get us to back her up. Ivy, you rushed headfirst into danger without a care for your own safety, plus, you've already had a previous...infraction," he finished.Ivy and Elle sat glumly in Hotch's office, getting chewed out by Erin for their recklessness. They had both received a one week suspension. "We found two other agents to take your place for the time being, everything will be fine. Think of this as a week off," Hotch said. Ivy grabbed Elle's hand. "See? It'll be ok. C'mon, let's go to my house," she suggested. Elle stood up slowly from her chair. "See you next week," she told Hotch, giving him a little salute. They headed out the door, hand in hand.

"Wow, we have a whole week together. We can just stay here in that time," Ivy said once they got to her house. Elle raised an eyebrow. "Ivy Adams, are you asking me to move in with you?" she asked playfully. "No! Well, yes... uh, sorta?" Ivy stammered. "Ok, sounds good to me," Elle replied. "Let me just drive home real fast to grab my stuff. I'll be back in about two hours," she said, grabbing her car keys off the nightstand.
After she left, Ivy decided to surprise Elle with something. She hopped into her car and headed to the nearest jewelry store. She entered the store, and peered in all the glass display cases, considering each shiny piece of jewelry. A couple of items really caught her eye, however. There was a delicate silver pendant shaped like a sun, and a pair of earrings that were shaped like little butterflies, encrusted with tiny jewels. Ivy asked the store manager to pull both of them out of the case.
"Shopping for your sister, or mom, perhaps?" he asked. She shook her head. "I'm shopping for my..." she trailed off. 'What even are Elle and I'? she wondered. "I'm shopping for my girlfriend," she said finally. She let out a small sigh when she saw the man's nose wrinkle slightly, and his mouth turn into a small frown. She had seen the look too many times from strangers when she had mentioned she was in a same-sex relationship. The man forced a smile. "And what do you think your... friend would like?" he asked. "First off, she's my girlfriend," she corrected him,
"Secondly, I don't really see her wear earrings, so I'll go with the necklace." The man nodded, still looking like he had tasted rotten fruit. "This is the display item, so I'll go in the back and get that for you," he told Ivy, turning away to head into the back of the store. She waited at the counter for a few minutes, until he came back out, a fake smile plastered on his face. "I'm sorry. That item is currently out of stock," he said, fake apologetically. Ivy could tell he was lying. She could tell by how his Adam's apple bobbed when he swallowed nervously, and how his eyes darted towards the door, two telltale signs he wasn't being truthful. She didn't know what to do. She wasn't about to challenge him.
Luckily, an employee swooped in to help her. "Miss," she said to Ivy. "Actually, this is in stock. You must not have been looking in the right place, Max," she said, holding up the pendant. "My mistake," Max growled through his teeth. Ivy nodded gratefully. The employee rung her up and apologized for the unkindness of her manager. "I hope you have an awesome day," she said. "Thanks, you too," Ivy replied, and headed out the door.
a/n: hi friends! sorry this chapter is so all over the place lmao. so that last part with the homophobic store manager wasn't necessary, but i put that in there just to kind of shed light on some problems the alphabet mafia face. homophobia isn't always like yelling slurs or beating up someone because they're gay, a lot of times it's more subtle, but it can still hurt a lot. gay people don't think they're better than the straights, we just want to be treated equally. same-sex relationships aren't something to be grossed out over, we feel love just the same as straight people, but maybe just not with the opposite gender. homophobia can have a lot of impact on an lgbtq person, so just keep that in mind next time something hurtful is threatening to come out of your mouth. stay safe my lovelies!! ♡︎♥︎♡︎♥︎♡︎
