Everyone knows that lizards love to relax with the sunlights hitting their skin. They want to enjoy every inch of sunlight as possible. None of them stay in the shadow forever.
Except him.
He ; he is special, weird, strange, a shame : that is how the others call him.
Fear has always told him how to live. Shadow is his home; he cannot feel the sunlight on his skin. It would be something new and it is scary. No one actually cared about him. Everyone laughed at him or ignored him. He started to think that nothing could change and stayed in the shadow. He was the skinny frightened lizard, that’s all. His life was boring but he liked it, he never thought he had another choice. He was alone. His friend, the only one, was the shadow.
The youngest lizard of the clan heard the rumors about Skinny. His parents always talked about it. They whispered. They heard. He had never understood why people always criticized him. One day, he decided to search for him in the shadow. He asked the clan about Skinny and where he could be. Everyone laughed at him. “You must be a crazy little lizard, go find your parents you’ve surely lost your mind”. Feeling desperate, he walked for hours and hours and found him unexpectedly. “Are you Skinny ? You should come with me. I don’t want to scare you, just to help.” Skinny was afraid, they stayed together for a few days but he did not trust him yet. Time passed, Skinny was looking for shadow but there was sun everywhere. He panicked and tried to stay hidden. The other lizard, the youngest but also the kindest, had patience and helped him to fight his fear. Skinny moved step by step. The sun hit his face, his body and his paws. The heat made him feel so good. He never felt that before. He was so happy : the heat was pleasant and he found a friend. The two lizards promised to live out of the shadow forever and to start a new life together, out of the clan. They lived the best lizard life ever.
Skinny is used to telling this story to his children, they should not let fear stop them from living.Moral : You should not be afraid of the sunlight, who knows you may like it.
