𝙁𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙝𝙨 𝙖𝙜𝙤.

"Shit, do you have to piss me off every fucking single day?" Kai's dad hissed, slamming his hands down onto the table causing the both of them to jolt in fear. 

Kai's blue eyes fearfully darted over to his trembling mom and he hesitantly reached under the table to lace their fingers together. His mom tensed at the contact but slowly relaxed once she met eyes with Kai. The black-haired woman gently smiled and outstretched her arm to place a hand on top of Kai's head.

"Why don't you go off to your room and let the adults talk, Kai?" His mom sweetly said, her bottom lip trembling. 

Kai could tell she was trying to hold back her tears. The fear was written all over her face even if she was trying to put on a brave front for him. When Kai's dad was in a bad mood, he would take it out on the both of them to the point that one time they had to stay at their next-door neighbor's place until he calmed down.

They didn't have any family where they lived due to Kai's parents cutting ties with their families before running away to live in the countryside. Kai and his mom didn't have anyone else to rely on. Even their neighbors had gotten fed up with them constantly hiding in their house and told them to call the police instead.

It was impossible for them to rely on the police when Kai's dad worked as a police officer. He had ties with them and would know if they talked to them. That would be the day he would kill the both of them without even a second thought.

"Oi, I'm fucking speaking to you," Kai's dad growled, leering at his wife from across the table. 

"Please Yasushi! Don't swear and raise your voice in front of our son," his mother attempted to plead, her voice shaky with terror and her eyes wide. 

"Hah? You trying to tell me what to do you, you bitch? Want me to smash your face in?" The dark-haired man lowly threatened, his jaw tightly clenched and hands balled into fists. 

Kai anxiously gasped, dropping his head and slapping his hands over his ears. He didn't want to hear anymore. He just wanted everything to stop. Kai didn't understand why his dad treated them this way. His mom always did everything to make him happy and sacrificed her family for him yet he treated her like she was nothing.

"Yasushi, please calm down, I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you angry," His mom tried to softly reason but the older man didn't listen to her soft pleas and rose up from his seat at the dinner table.

Kai already knew what was about to happen. He hated seeing his dad put his hands on his mom. It made him feel sick. 

The black-haired boy hastily jumped up out of his seat and climbed in his mom's lap, his hands outstretched whilst heatedly glaring up at his dad.

"Don't touch mom! She hasn't done anything wrong!" Kai shouted, anger surging through his small body.

"Kai! Don't get involved-"

Before his mom could finish her sentence, his dad backhanded Kai across the face and firmly yanked onto strands of his black hair. Kai being half his size meant that the pain was unbearable for him to take.
