Sams pov
The school bell pierced the air and everyone scrambled for their bags.I slid my binder into my bag and zipped it up. Slinging it over one shoulder. Running down the halls and skipping in and out of people's ways. Finally I reached the schools flagpole. On the backside of the school where no one bothered to go after school except for a few kids here and there, walking to their houses. She wasn't there yet. But the moments I leaned on the pole she burst through the back doors of the school and stumbled over to me. Laughing I lightly punched on the arm, "hey squirt, ready to go?" I asked Hailey. "Let's go!" She panted. We jogged out into the small forest of trees. Cutting our way to the dirt road. I looked and Hailey, smiled and mentally punched myself for liking her so much. She had the prettiest long purple hair and the blueest eyes. Tan as she could be. But besides her being gorgeous, she was, funny, sweet, didn't care a bit about popularity. But the thing was. I cannot tell at all if she has any interest in me. She's my best friend, you're think we both want to be more, but if she does, she doesn't let it show one bit. I knew for a fact that I had competition, there was Dylan, the schools social popular dream guy, then there was Alex, the schools jock. I knew they were both on her. Nikki was friends with almost everyone in the school so there were about a million other people who liked her. As we walked down the familiar dirt road. She talked about her science project, her partner was Dylan, "he fell trying to ask me to be his partner," she laughed, I laughed along but noted yet another sign of Dylan going after Hailey . We reached the end of the dirt road and stepped off the curb. Walking across the street. My house on the left, hers on the right. Waving we went our separate ways. "By sammy!" She called, "by Hailey
!" I called back. 10 minutes later I sat down at the desk in my room. I pulled out my history homework and looked out the window above the desk. I could see perfectly into Hailey 's room. Sometimes we would talk through the windows, she'd let me cheat off of her answers for English too. I sucked at english. She wasn't in her room at the moment. My phone broke my thoughts. I looked at the caller id, ricky. "Hey," I said, "hey man, how's it goin?" Ricky was all the way in La with jc, they wanted me to move to La with them, but I couldn't. Maybe over the summer me and Hailey could rent a house there. "Good, what's up?" I spun in my chair. "Me and jc are thinking about visiting you in a couple weeks." Ricky said, "dude that be sweet," I smiled, I hadn't seen them in a while. "Cool, I haven't figure out exactly when, but I'll talk to jc. Alright man see ya," "see ya," I ended the call and turned back to my paper, happy that my friends would be here soon.
Hailey's pov
I woke up this morning and immediately thought of dylan. That was enough to get me out of bed and into the shower. After my normal cold shower, I stood in front of my closet for about 10 minutes before deciding on a navy floral skirt that went just above my knees, and one of my short sleeved pacsun shirts. I took the time to blow dry my hair and tie it into a tight pony tail. When I came out of my bathroom I looked out my window. There was sam. I waved, he smiled and waved back. We both walked over to our windows and lifted the up. "Mornin!" I said, "don't know how you have so much energy in the morning," he laughed, "what's your secret?" He joked, "fall in love," I laughed. For a split second I thought I saw hope flash across his eyes. No way, I guess dylan didn't cure me completely of school morning tiredness. "Race you your mailbox!" I yelled slamming my window shut. I ran downstairs and grabbed a banana from the fruit bowl in the center of our table. Sliding into my white converse, I stuffed my phone in my backpack and through it on my back. Than I jogged over to the front door. Sam was just walking out of his door, we both ran but sam beat me to it. "I won," he said as we started walking. "Yeah yeah." When we reached the door of the school sam opened it and swept his hand gesturing for me to go first. He smiled his fake toothy smile and I laughed. I told him by than raced off to science, with dylan!
Sam pov
"Just fall in love," she laughed. A nervous pang hit my chest and I was filled with hope. Was she talking about me? I forgot about the hope that I had and went into deep thought * * *
After school we decided to go to my house to do homework and hang out. We laid on our bellies stretched out on my floor. Doing math problems and comparing answers. "Guess what," I said, "hmm?" She mumbled still paying attention to her math. "Ricky and jc are going to visit in a few we-" my phone started ringing, "sorry," I said, it was jc "hello?" "Hey man, so we are coming a week from wait today is Tuesday... A week from Friday for the week, we'll leave on the next Friday. Cool?" Jc asked, "cool, it'll be good to see ya," I said, "you too, see ya bro," JC said, "by," i hung up. "So you were saying..." Hailey looked up curiously, "jc and ricky are visiting a week from Friday!" I said, she smiled, "yay! We always have a heck of a time when they come around," she laughed slightly. She returned to her textbook. "What did you get for 1c?" She asked, "uhhh, x=54.2465," I said looking at my page. Me too," she started on the next problem. "What's up?" I asked, she seemed kinda out of it. She squealed her lips together. "Ok, ok. So you know...Dylan," she said, I nodded, "I really like him," my stomach dropped, "but, I have no earthly clue what he thinks of me!" She put her head in her hands, "didn't you say he fell trying to be your partner?" I asked, trying to make her feel better. "Yeah, but what if he just wants to because he wants someone smart to do it with him," she said, "oh trust me, guys don't do that," I laughed, she smiled a bit. "1 sec," I said. I pulled out my phone and scrolled through my contacts. Ounce I found the name I called it. "Hey sam!" I voice said, "heeeeey, so jc and ricky are coming a week from Friday, can you make it too?" I asked, "uhhhhhh," there was a pause, "yeah! Actually I think so! Will hayhay be there?" "Yep," I smiled, "yass! Ok well I got to go love you sam!" She said, "love ya too!" I said and hung up. "Who was that?" Hailey asked, "guess," I said, she rolled her eyes, "boy?" "No." "Jessica." "Yes, no fun," I teased, "so she's coming?" Hayley had a big Grin that got even bigger when i told her yup! Hailey and jessica were really close, they were practically sisters.
