Unholy Fall

Prologue

As I fell, I thought about the memories.

With the wind slicing into the soft skin of my face, my wings broken, I relived every moment that we had shared together. The moment that we had met, our eyes locking with undeniable force as our bond snapped into place. His face never leaving my mind for the days that followed afterwards, until I saw him again in the streets, running to stop him before he could leave my sight. 

I thought about the future we had planned together, in the realm we had called our home. The unnamed, unborn children we wished to have. The big dramatic wedding with my beloved father walking me down the aisle. 

The story that we had shared. In our minds, and in our hearts, we had been unstoppable. We had no idea... no idea.

Tears streamed from my eyes and into the darkness that I fell through. I tumbled through every memory, every thought, every dream that had been so aburptly ended. The beings I grew up with, their sneering faces they had showed the moment before he and I had begun our descent. I didn't know that those I trusted could hurt me so much. I didn't know that he and I could've been doomed from the start.

And as I fell, the agony tearing through every part of my being...

I still loved him.
