Her and her dad lived with her dad's girlfriend, soon to be wife. Her dad started to go insane like crazy, crazy where he would have the emotional break-downs or even these big horrible fits. Her dad (JD) tried to hit his girlfriend (Candace) until Sylvia stepped in. Candace had a 16 year old son named Brett which Sylvia was in love with like, she looked up to him as an actual big brother, thats how he treated her like his little sister. He was always there for her. They would be there for each other when their parents would fight. One time their parents were fighting on Sunday at midnight. They both walked out of their rooms and her dad had a chair in his hand fixing to hit Candace with it before Brett grab it and pushed him outside to calm him down. While Sylvia was inside picking up the mess they made, Brett came back in. He grabbed her hands, pulled her off the ground and looked her in the eyes. He said, "go back to bed this ain't our mess." So the next day Sylvia and Candace talked about her dad and they decided to send him to a psych ward, which he agreed to go. JD was gone for a week. He got out a week later. They gave him medicine that he was suppose to take every day.
