Prologue

"Malia? Sweetheart?"

"Your mom and I are going out now. Genelle should be home from New York City by 8p.m."

Genelle, my crazy and successful sister is coming home for my high school graduation. Yay!!! My big sis is a well known match maker in New York.

"Kay, daddy, see you crazy cats later. Oh and don't keep her too long, you know what happened last time."

"Of course mother." He said sarcastically.

"Is that a tone I'm hearing Jack Whitiker?"

"No ma'am, I'll have her home by eleven."

I stood on my tippy toes and gave a small peck on the cheek to my daddy before he left.

"If you don't mind, Lia, could you give a shout to Jillian and tell her I'll start the car?"

"Sure daddy."

"Mother, mom?....mom?"

"Yeah Lia?"

"Dad's waiting for you!!!"

"I'm coming"

"That's what she said."

"Honey, how many times do I have to tell you that that may be ok for you and your friends to say that but I didn't mean any sexual input on my statement."

*1 hour later at 8pm*

*2 ½ hours and four monopolies later*

"One...two...three and ...four. Haha Genelle you landed on Boardwalk looks like you owe me a stack of cash."

"Oh damn I was never good at this game anyways Lia."

"Lia I did not cuss at you and besides I am 27 years old, I can."

*20 minutes later*

This is Your News Today at eleven, and I'm Landon Carey with some depressing news. Today at about 10:30 pm a fatal accident occurred. At the cross section of Maple St. and Burnout Ln. a black Honda civic was crashed in to by a drunken truck driver. While the truck driver is in critical condition the couple did not survive........

Genelle and I just stared at the TV praying it wasn't who we thought it was.

We just learned that the couple in the car was Jack Whitiker and Jillian Whitiker of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Their bodies are still at the hospital and will be there until claimed. We know that the couple was survived by their two daughters, Malia Shay Whitiker and Genelle Whitiker. Thank you and good night.

I slowly reached my hand to the lipstick that rubbed off from my mom's kiss and slowly every thing sank in, slowly I began to cry.

"Oh my god, oh my god, no, no, this couldn't happen, this isn't happening, I'm supposed to graduated tomorrow. We were supposed to go out to eat and celebrate ..... b-b-but n-now they're d-d-dead," by know I was bawling and clinging to Genelle.

"Come on Malia let's get cleaned up and changed and take a trip to the hospital."

This was the day my world came crashing down, this waas the day were I lost everything important.... at least almost everything.
