MACKENZIE WALKED INTO THE , school building being greeted with lots of stares and whispers. She was curious why everyone was staring at her, she was always a quiet kid and never really liked or wanted attention.
the halls soon went back to it's normal volume after a while but she was still confused, as she walked up to her locker she noticed her long time bestfriend john was standing there waiting for her. A smile crept onto her face as she go closer to him. "Hey zeigler" John said with a cheeky smile plastered on his face.
the brunette smiled at him as she quickly put in her locker combination. "hey, do you know why everyone's staring at me. i mean i know your popular and stuff-" he cut me off by shutting my locker and grabbing my hand dragging me down the halls, leading us outside to the field.
he picked me up and placed me down on the crusty grass. i crossed my arms and he sat down smiling like a little kid. he was adorable, he sighed and grabbed my hands. " i wanna tell you something, this could either go one way or another." he sentence made me nervous, what could he be telling me that could possibly ruin our friendship.
"go on, you can tell me anything i won't judge. I promise." a small smile appeared on his face as he took a deep breath.
"I'm in love with you mackenzie"
an expression of pure shock flushed kn my face. he's..in love with me? i was speechless. "you're what?" I slowly stood up backing away from him a little bit. "I'm in love with you mackenzie, don't you feel the same?" it hurt me on the inside he looked to happy to tell me, now the only thing i see in his eyes are tiny bits of hope.
I slowly shook my head no, every last bit of hope in his body had drained. I felt terrible, but I couldn't lie to him and say I was in love with him. I only saw him as a friend, and that's all I'll ever see him as.
as I was backing away I saw a tear fall from his eye, one by one more and more fell. I watched as he placed his hands on his cheeks sniffling, he wiped his tears with his sleeve and grabbed his belongings walking my direction.
as he stood in front of me he gently grabbed my face pulling me into a soft kiss. I could feel his hot tears on my cheeks, his hands slowly moving down to my waist.
due to my crop top I could feel his cold hands on my waist, he gently rubbed his thumbs against my skin as he parted our lips, leaving us both panting out of breath.
"now do you love me?"
he tilted his head eyes full of hope as he scanned my face searching for an answer. "you don't, don't you..?" his voice was low my eyes softened. "look john, I know you have feelings for me but I just don't look at you in that way, honestly I don't even think I can look at you the same after this." I blurted, a single tear drop from his eye fell as he slowly nodded.
"so this is it?" he whispered as I nodded in return. "this is it.." my arms slowly snaked around his neck as I pulled him into a hug. his head fell into the crook of my neck as I felt a hot tear fall down my face. He tightened his grip around my torso pulling me closer.
"I'll miss you john, so much but this won't work out. you know it won't" i sniffled as I quietly sobbed on his shoulder. "I love you kenny, forever an always" we both slowly pulled away from the hug.
I slowly backed away turning around facing the school building, I couldn't look back. I couldn't do it, I'd fully break down. I walked into the school building and saw Hayden waiting by my locker.
"you rejected him didn't you?" he whispered in a low tone. I slowly nodded "good job baby" he smiled grabbing my waist pulling me into a kiss. i kissed back as he pinned me against the lockers. I silently cried as he forced himself onto me.
"hey Kenzie you forgot your phon—" his voice trailed off as he saw Hayden and i kissing. I could tell he saw something was off, he quickly placed his things down punching hayden unconscious. I quickly ran to him collapsing into his arms "I love you so much, I love you john, I'm in love with you" I cried out. "I love you too kenzie... he slowly hugged back staring at Hayden's body. He noticed blood start to spread around his head and slowly back away.
"kenzie..kenzie we gotta go!" he quickly picked up his things, he grabbed my hand as we escorted the school premises. "John where are we going!"
" I think I just killed hayden summerall.."
