I woke up inside of an ambulance that had taken me from the place that had been destroyed.

"do you know who you are and what happened?" a dispatcher asked me.

"yeah, I almost died ...but someone saved me" I responded. "wait why am I even in here, I'm fine."

"No you are not. you have suffered cuts from the debris, also, your leg is broken, from what seems to look like excessive pressure that caused it to break." The dispatcher explained.

"oh yes the cuts did hur—... BROKEN?!" I asked.

The rest of the ride was silent. I was still trying to process how my leg broke. Then it hit me, who ever had saved me, broke my leg, because I remember the grip being so strong that the pain in my leg was the only thing I was focused on. After getting checked by the doctor I was finally released to go home. Walking out with a cast from the hospital was new. Luckly the fracture in my leg was small that would take a few months to recover from. For now, I had to use crutches. I had flashed down a taxi that soon made it way to my home. The whole ride back was pure panic. How was I supposed to go to work like this now? Also, I had school, I had just started college, I couldn't miss days now! Also, I did't want to cause trouble for my mother. I'm already a "nuisance" to her. I had finally arrived home after a 30 min drive. It was about 4am when I stood outside the front gate, while the taxi drove off. I looked up at the second-floor window, but the lights were turned off "she must have already gone to sleep". The weeks only just begun, and I was feeling helpless by this point.

After a rather restless night, the sun finally peeked through the mountains filling the neighborhood with its light. I whipped up some breakfast, some delicious sunny side up eggs, biscuit, bacon, with orange juice. I carried it up to the second floor where my mother stays at it was a struggle, but I managed to go up. "mom, I have your breakfast, I'm coming in" the door creaked as I opened it with one hand. I saw my mother as she faced her back toward me... things haven't been the same ever since he left. about two years ago mom and dad got into a huge argument, where my mom said something very hurtful that anybody would have left. she had told my dad "she's not even your daughter so leave, I'm sick and tired of you!". Yeah, she was referring to me.... My dad left within that week after the fight, he left without a word nor a note. My mom eventually left her job and has not worked ever since. Bills were getting delayed, so I took it upon my responsibility to take care of it. Now all she does is stay in her room, and therapy is way too expensive to get her help. "im going to school, eat your breakfast" I left the quiet room and got ready for school. Since I had a cast on my leg, pants were out of the question, so my only easiest choice was a dress or a skirt. So, I put on a skirt that went a little over my knees.

I took the bus to my college, good thing itswasn't packed like most days. I finally got of the station that was nearest tomy college, all I had to do was walk 2 blocks down. as I was approaching, I noticeda couple of cars at the front gate and some balloons at the entrance. I gotcloser and there was a banner that read "Welcome Pro Heros". My face lit upbecause I loved anything that had to do with heroes, they were so cool. The teacherssaid that all students were to go to their classes. That upset me because I reallywanted to know what pro heroes were at my school!!
