I woke up that day with curiosity written all over my face. I walked outside after putting on some fresh clothes. I saw a boy kicking a soccer ball around by himself, he looked to be about my age, so I approached him.
"Hi" I said, stepping casually into his lawn. He looked up from his own little game startled.
"Oh geez you scared me I was j-j-just um" he looked down at his ball
"You play?" I asked
" uh well I'm trying t-t-o try out f-f-for it at my sc-c-chol" he said in a stutter
I looked at him, he looked back, he had messy hair, wire glasses, and a shirt that his mom picked out for him, I loved him.
Two girls walked by, both had cell phones in their hands laughing and talking to each other, they looked nice, a little bit fake though. They saw me, playing with the outcast. They stopped and stared, at me.
"Hey I'm new around here, my names coby" the girls looked at me like candy or something. They were both skinny, and fit, both blondes, but one had a darker shade, almost dirty blonde. They both wore pink lipstick, I noticed that the lighter hair one had more makeup on and skinnier thighs. I saw contacts in the dirty blondes eyes. The dirty blonde was prettier, and looked like she was more athletic.
"I'm Brittany, and this is Bella" announced the one with lighter hair.
"I see you've met Jacob" she said with a strange look in her eyes.
"Hi Brittany" Jacob said
Brittany looked kind of hesitant, but then looked at me.
"Hi Jacob" she said with a completely fake and forced smile. She was trying to be friends with him so I might take interest in her. Too late.
She brushed back her hair even though it wasn't in her face. Girls tend to do that when they have nothing else to do. I don't know why. Bella spoke up.
"Brittany come on we better keep walking your mom will be wondering where we are."
"I live just up the road, four houses from here on the other side of the street" Brittany said with a shy smile"
I watched them walk away quickly, avoiding my gaze. I looked at the boy in front of me, I saw him as a normal human, he has a stuttering problem, but just as many friends as me. I like him. I want him to be my friend, because I know he is real.
I give Him a look that says more than words ever will.
This guy understands. More than he would with words.
After a while of kicking the ball around I left for home.
As I was walking down the unfamiliar sidewalk I saw a girl sitting alone in her yard. She was sitting with her legs crossed, and her hair flowed down her back, she was looking down..l reading. She had light brown hair, the color of caramel, and when she looked up at me, she had the most beautiful color of blue eyes I had ever seen. She looked shocked.
"Oh hi there" she said cheerily.
"Hey I'm Coby, I just moved in here."
"Cool I am Pia" beautiful name, I thought. When she smiled the sides of her lips curled, rather than just raising.
"So what are you reading?" I ask casually, I sit down in front of her, in the grass rather than on a blanket like she had brought out.
"I am reading Tigers curse" she says.
"I remember my mom reading those books."
"You know most people on such a nice day would be hanging out with their friends." I say.
"I'd prefer to read, my friends can be annoying at times." She says
"I only had two friends back at home, one was my girlfriend, the two are dating right now." I say feeling some tears in my eyes. She looks at my sadness and says quickly.
"I've only dated one guy, and he was an arsehole"
I laughed. "What did you just say?"
"I've only dated one...." She started before I cut her off
"I'm talking about that word you used to describe him." At which she smiled again. I liked how easily she smiled, how real it was.
"Arsehole" she says. I laugh.
"Are you a goody goody or something?" I ask
"I try to be, but sometimes it doesn't come out in a coverup way" we both laugh. I was already starting to like my new friend.
"So all your friends are annoying huh?" I ask
"Yep" she says with a smile. She shows me her bookmark, it is a picture of all of them, there is four of them, three girls, one guy.
Two of the girls have their hands in each other back pockets. I ask about it.
"Those two are dating"
"I see, are you...?"
"No" she says seriously, but with amusement. I was starting to feel a connection with this girl. I looked at her, she looked at me back.
"Your really pretty" I say without thinking. She completely blushes.
Nothing is said. Her mom sees me and calls Pia inside.
"Guess I have to go, hey you wanna come over same time tomorrow?" She asks me. Wow things are great here at this new town.
"Of course" I give my most genuine smile, and something flashes in her eyes. It looks pretty on her, that look of satisfaction she had.
I walk home with a smile, and the walk isn't that far, it only takes me about two minutes to get there by a relaxing walking pace.
I want 24 hours to pass by quickly, I think. I am still buzzing with energy.
Seeing her. Which her?
Cassie? Or the new beautiful young innocent face?
I am still in love with Cassie. But this new girl is amazing just as she was. I missed Cassie. I missed seeing her beautiful smile, and melting down in my chair when I looked into those beautiful eyes.
How I loved her eyes
It was my favorite feature of her
Or was it that smile, no it was the eyes
Those eyes that see through
Just about everything
Those eyes deep blue
Truly meant something
I write this down on the back of my favorite picture of her.
As I scratched down the final word, something, I really felt what it meant.
Her eyes, spoke words. They were poetic, giving an endless abundance of inspiration, I wish I could find myself lost in them again. Before I know it I am crying again. Not in a strong, attractive way the way she does, but I cry like a baby, I don't feel independent. To be independent is to be fine on your own. I was not though, I need Cassie now more than ever.
