"It is a story about stupid youth and shallow lust!"
A collective gasp sounded from one half of the classroom
"NO! IT IS A BEAUTIFUL TRAGEDY ABOUT POISONOUS HATRED CONQUERED BY LOVE!"
"THEY DON'T CONQUER ANYTHING! THEY DIED IN THE END BECAUSE OF THEIR OWN STUPIDITY!"
The argument echoed throughout the auditorium. They had been like this for the past half hour. Everyone was at each other's throat except for me and a petite tenth grade girl next me. The substitute had given up trying to take a hold of the class. She was now just spinning around sadly in the desk chair at the front of the class.
Shakespeare would not be impressed. I chuckled softly to myself. Our class along with the tenth graders had just finished the classic romance Romeo and Juliette. Our teacher was sick and there was a shortage with substitutes so the put our two classes together.
We were sitting at the front row facing towards the stage. I had purposely placed myself outside the argument, my classmates can be savage.
I eventually grew bored of the endless banter and let my eyes drift to anything but the 32 screaming teens. My eyes drift from the stage, to the lights, to the girl next to me. I had only deuced that she was short from a glance at the beginning of the lesson. On closer inspection I noticed that she was actually very beautiful. How did I not notice this?
The girl was quite pale and around half a head shorter than me. She had unusually bright golden-brown eyes , like honey, and spikey almost black hair. She had vintage styled clothes that was accompanied with silver cat earrings.
She turned her head meeting my eyes probably feeling my stare. I turn the look at the ground extremely flustered. I shouldn't have stared, its rude. She let out a small laugh to my surprise. I look up upon hearing the angelic sound. In the sunlight she looked like she was sparkling, like a human diamond.
"Got bored of the arguing I see." She looks at me smiling "My name is Alice. Alice Cullen. You are Bella Swan I presume."
A beautiful name for a beautiful person.
"Y-yeah. How did you know?" How did she know?
"You are the new kid that arrived two weeks ago. We haven't had any new kids for quite a while, so you have been the talk of the town. Not to mention you are the police chiefs long lost daughter." Her gaze returned to the still arguing teens though now focusing strictly on a boy named Mike "It also doesn't help that all the boys at this small school have been fawning over you."
I turn to look at Mike surprised.
"Mike?"
She just nodded. I sat there uncomfortably not knowing how to continue the conversation.
"So... uhh... Why did you call me Bella?"
"Oh, do you not want me to? I have heard you correct people in the hallway, so it is what I assumed what you want to be called."
I feel surprised once again. If she has seen me the hallways, how have I never noticed her? Wait, she is probably waiting for an answer! SAY SOMETHING QUICK. AGREE.
"Umm Y-yeah. Bella. That's me. Or that isn't my given name. But the name I want to be called by. You know. Bella."
I smile awkwardly. I am screaming internally. Well done dumbass. What the fuck was that.
She laughs again. At least there was one plus side to being an absolute imbecilic. She opens her mouth to say something but is cut off by the bell.(557 words)
