Chapter 1: Friends Forever

Zayden's POV

I crawl through the crack Kenzie found. She led me to this sewer and told me she's been outside the walls.

It was said that the world outside the walls are dangerous and there were only wastelands. But I don't understand... why would she want to go out there?

Then I saw it. Behind the walls that entrap us, were trees in different colors. I could feel the breeze flowing through my hair. I had never seen anything like it before.

"Whoa..." I said in awe "This doesn't look like wastelands..."

I turned to my friend Kenzie, who smiled as she gazed at the view. "I know, the outside is beautiful" she said.

"I don't get it, why would they lie to us?" I asked. "Exactly, there's nothing dangerous out there" Kenzie responded.

I look around, I look at the beautiful setting, and the amount of trees, logs, and bushes. There was only one thing that came to mind.

"I bet you won't find me if we play hide and seek!" I teased Kenzie. She then turns to me with a playful smile. "Oh, you're on!"

We run through the forest together. I try to find a place to hide, while Kenzie counts up to 60.

I hide behind a tree, and I could hear Kenzie counting up. "56, 57, 58, 59, 60! Ready or not, here I come!" I heard Kenzie yell.

"She'll never find me here..." I thought to myself.

SNAP!

I look around, alerted. "W-what was that?" I whispered to myself. After looking both directions, I could only look up.

Then I see someone. Someone I've never seen before. It was a girl, but she had pink hair. "What the..." I said to myself.

It was strange, I had never seen a girl like that before, having pink hair. She seemed friendly, I decided to talk to her. "Uh... hi..." I awkwardly said.

The girl jumped down in front of me. She had a smile on her face. "Hi, I'm Primrose! Nice to meet you!" she said.

"I'm Zayden" I introduced myself. Primrose seemed confused, seems like she's never seen anyone like me before. 

"What are you doing out here?" she asked. "I'm playing hide and seek with my friend" I responded.

The girl smiled. "Okay, I have a great hiding place. Follow me." Primrose ran up to the tree then started climbing. I followed her.

But I was curious, where did she come from? And what is she? "But who are you? I've never seen someone with pink hair." I said.

I heard her giggle. "That's because I'm a guest, silly! We have pink and blue hair!" she said. It seemed that there is more of her. But how have I not heard of them before?

"I've never heard of a guest before" I said. I wanted to know where she came from, how she got here. "Where did you come from?" I decided to ask.

She giggled again. "That's a secret!" she said. We continue to climb the tree. I leap on to a branch, but it felt wobbly. "Watch your step!" she yelled. I leaped toward her, as the branch fell off and she grabbed my hand.

"Thanks" I said. She had a beaming smile on her face. "You're welcome friend!" she said. Friend? Wow, the only friend I have was Kenzie. Maybe my dad counts? I don't know her that well, but it's still nice to have a friend.

"You know, you can call me Zayden instead" I smiled. Primrose helps me up. We made it to the top of the tree. She sits down, as I sit next to her.

"So, why are you here?" I asked, curious. Her smile turned to a slight frown. "I ran away from home" she replied.
