Hello everyone, I had the idea while hearing the songs Mine by Alex Isley and Jack Dine and Pattern by Chelan and NNAVY and I wanted to bring it to life. I encourage you to listen to it while reading this. I hope you enjoy this story, where not everything is at it seems.

Thank you for reading,

Always Mine

Live music bounced across every corner of the elegant French museum along with the whispers, secrets, and glances from the bodies that occupied it. Tonight was the highlights of the week, the coveted Paris Fashion Week Wrap Up Party hosted by Vogue. This party provided the anonymity to let the pent-up stress of the crazy month of fashion season disappear. She watched as the marble walls and floors of the historical museum shifted to different colors with tasteful lights and the chiffon drapes the print magazine had chosen to decorate the venue with.

Walking further into the space, she politely acknowledged and nodded at the strangers who greeted her, offering words of appreciation at their compliments.

She could feel eyes on her, a testament to the rarity of her appearance that night. In all honesty, she was never one for large gatherings, being much more comfortable being at home with a glass of red wine, but it was part of her job. Tonight, she had decided to wear one of the pieces from her collection, a silk low back dress with crystal shoulder straps that tastefully teased the shape of her breast. Her hair was up in a messy bun, with two pieces of hair framing her minimally made-up face.

"Look everyone, a rare, wild, untamed Juliana Valdes appears, far from her natural habitat" The blonde, blue-eyed woman approached her wearing a body-tight dress with a shimmery black top and a red leather bottom.

"Vera," She greeted. "Do you want me to leave... because I will happily do so," Juliana smirked, her head motioning back to the entrance she had just come through.

"Why do you choose to make my job harder?" The blonde rolled her eyes, reaching over to give her friend and partner a hug.

"I thought I was making it easier?" The two walked towards the extravagant circular white bar in the middle of the room.

"I can't be a partner and network if you, my dear superstar, are not here to be networked," Vera stated.

"First of all, I am not a pawn to be played. Second, the fact that I rarely show up to these things but chose to come to this is enough promotion to get people's attention," Juliana pointed out.

"Fair play. I swear the gasps that came from this room when you stepped in. You are an icon, my dear."

"And you are already tipsy?" The designer teased, a laugh emitting her lips as her friend almost bumped into a male model. She felt very fortunate to have someone like Vera in her life. The two had been assigned roommates during their college years over a decade ago. Juliana had been a quiet, creative girl who lived practically attached to her sowing machine. Vera was the outspoken, smart girl who was interested in the business side of the fashion world. They had balanced each other out. Vera had rooted for her when she had almost given up. Vera had been by Juliana's side when she had opened her small store in Mexico City, she had cheered as she won her first award, and now she was her protector as they navigated the crazy world of high fashion.

"Let me celebrate. This has been your best fashion week season to date, and heavens know, we already have to start planning for the next one."

"Salut! Un verre de Chardonnay, s'il vous plait." Juliana ordered in fluent french from the short redhead behind the bar.
