"Hey, Indie." A shouting voice grabbed the attention go the small blonde. "Whats up Jess?" Indigo asked falling into step with her. "Have you seen Justin?" Jess asked her frantically. Indigo paused to think. "Not since school yesterday, why?" She asked, feeling sorry when she saw the girls distressed appearance.
Jess ran a nervous hand through hair, pulling Indigo into an empty room. "He went off the gird after he talked to Porter." Jess said, transferring her panic over to the girl. "Shit."
"I'll find out where he is okay? We can go get him after school." Indigo said trying to calm Jess who was visibly shaking at this point. "What did he say? There has to be a reason that he disappeared the day after talking to Porter. What if he-" Jess ranted on. Indigo cut her off, pulling her into a tight hug. "Its gonna be okay. He wouldnt say anything." She assured.
Jess finally gained a small smile. "I'm gonna be here for you no matter what." Indigo told her. "We're going to make all of this go away." She said, trying to even convince herself that everything would be okay.
"See you after school?" Indigo said once they got to her classroom. "Bye, love you." Jess said giving her hand a small squeeze. "Love you."
The girls went their seperate ways, leaving a calmer Jess and a panicked Indigo. The blonde sat in her desk, searching her bag for pills as worse case scenarios filled her mind. Of course she came up empty handed. But she couldnt let them take over, she had to stay strong for Jess, her best friend.
Friendship can be complicated. Let's introduce the star of tape number two, my former friend, Jessica Davis. I met Jessica a couple of weeks into sophomore year. Apparently, we needed to be counseled. Do adults understand how friendships work
Indigo sat nervously picking at her nails as she waited in the front office, her first day and she had to talk to the counselor. "Wait line for the counselor?" A girl in a gray sweater asked approaching her. "Yep, join in on the anxiety of not knowing what you did wrong." She said sarcastically. "Well I can't wait. I'm Jessica Davis, I'm new." The light skinned girl introduced. "Indigo Grace, I'm new too."
"Indigo?" Hannah Bakers voice caught the attention of the two girls. "Hannah Banana, you here for Antilly too?" Indigo grinned at the girl, she nodded back. "Well this is Jess, shes new too." Hannah sent a small wave over to the other girl. "So they call all the new kids to the counselor on their first day?"
But before the girls could add onto her comment, all three were pulled into the office. "Hannah, meet Jessica and Indigo." Antilly started. "Jessica and Indigo meet Hannah." The three girls stared between each other in slight shock, they were actually trying to set them up with friends. "All three of you are new to Liberty and I thought it would be good for you to know each other."
"I know this isn't how thing are normally done but I thought you could be friends." She said noticing the looks the girls held. "I recognize it's unusual to be assigned a friend, so think of it as a friendly face in the crowd until you get your bearings."
"So you want us to smile at each other in the hall?" Hannah asked, still slightly shocked. "How will that help us directionally?" She said sarcastically after Antilly nodded her head. "Well, the point is that you want be strangers. I want you guys to have allies." The older woman made an attempt to explain.
Indigo smirked at the joke the conversation had turned in to. "So, we should smile at you in the hallway too?" She jumped in. "I'd love that." Mrs. Antilly didn't realize the sarcasm dripping from the girls. "I just want us to all be here for each other, I knew school isn't always a friendly place."
