Lights

Amity's POV

Luz leads me to a boat and we both sit inside it. "Hey Max! These are for you!" She calls out to the white horse and throws him some apples. Max doesnt seem to trust them and looks at her suspiciously. "What I didnt poison them. I bought them." She tells him and he eats a apple and she calls out to him again, "Well, most of them!" 

I giggle at his reaction when he hears he is eating some stolen apples. I can see that luz is grinning at me. She paddles away from shore and we are in the middle of the great big ocean. 

I sigh as we both wait for everything to begin. "Hey you ok, Amity?" Luz asks me and i turn to face her. I cant meet her eyes so i look down and say, "Im terrified..." She then lifts up my chin so i can look at her, right into her eyes. "Why?" She says confused on why im scared.

"I've been looking out a window for 18 years, dreaming of what it might feel like when those lights rise in the sky." I pause for a small moment and then continue, "What if its not everything i dreamed it would be?" 

"It will be." 

"And what if it is? What do i do then?" I ask her and she looks out into the ocean. I do the same and wait for an answer. 

A few seconds later, she doesnt look at me but instead says, "Well then you get to find a new dream. Maybe even better than this." I smile at her even if i dont look directly at her. 

"Here this is for you..." I grab the bag with the crown inside of it and hand it to her. She looks surprised but she waves me off. "I wont need it." She tells me and sets it to the side. She gives me a goofy smile and it makes me melt from the inside.

3rd POV

At the castle 

"Alador..." Odalia spoke to her husband. 18 years. 18 long years since their daughter went missing.

They had two twins before Amity was born so they werent completely alone but something about having one of their children missing for so long made them hurt inside.

"Do you think she'll ever come back? Not just to the kingdom but to us..." Alador asks his wife. She cups his face and gives him a soft gentle kiss. "I dont know dear but all we can do is hope she does."

"Ma'am sir... sorry to interrupt but its time..." A guard comes in and holds the door open for them.

"Thank you Steve, please go get Edric and Emira." Alador told the guard as he walked out with Odalia who was grabbing his arm. Steve saluted and went to go find the twins. 

Moments later Steve came back with the twins. Both 26 years old. They miss their little sister just as much as their parents do. Edric embraced his father in a warm hug and Emira with her mother and then switched. Emira had tears coming from her face while Edric desperately tried to hold them in. 

Once they were all done mourning for the lost princess the lit up a lantern and all four of them raised it up into the air making it float up. 

Soon the rest of the kingdom lit up their own lanterns and released them into  the air.  Soon ther sky will be lit up with lanterns yet another year.

With Luz and Amity

Amity was placing flowers into the water, when she see's a small light float up into the sky and looks up. She soon realizes its a lantern and runs to the edge of the boat.

Amity's POV

'All those days, watching from the windows... All those years outside looking in.' I sing/say in my head. 'All that time never even knowing, just how blind i've been. Now im here, blinking in the starlight. Now im here, suddenly i see, standing here. Its oh so clear. Im where im meant to be.'

I watch as all the lanterns come and float closer to the water. 

'And at last i see the light, and its like the fog has lifted. And at last i see the light and its like the sky is new. And its warm and real and bright, and the world has somehow shifted...'  I look out into to the ocean feeling an empty feeling within me. Its like im missing something... Luz...

'All at once, everything looks different. Now that i see you' I turn and look at her.

Luz's POV

I smirk at Amity as i hold two lanterns for us. She quickly comes over and sits across from me. Her beautiful golden eyes lit up and she smiles at me. I can feel my heart racing again.

We released the lanterns into the air and there they go floating above us.

'All those days, chasing down a daydream. All those years, living in a blur. All that time, never truly seeing, things the way they were.' I was looking up at the sky watching our lanterns float up dancing in the air with each other.

'Now she's here, shining in the starlight' I look at Amity and see her extend her arm to raise a lantern that was falling back down.

'Now she's here, suddenly i know, if she's here Its crystal clear, im where im meant to go-' I grab her hand and i see a tint of blush for on her face.

both Luz and Amity

"And at last, i see the light." they both sing in unison. 

"And its like the fog has lifted" Luz sings.

"And at last, i see the light" They once again sing together.

"And its like the sky is new." Amity sings as she looks deep into luz's eyes.

"And its warm and real and bright. And the world has somehow shifted...All at once everything is different...Now that i see you..." Both Of them slowly start leaning in.

"Now that i see you." Luz moves Amity's hair out the way and slowly start getting a bit closer. Not yet close enough to where the are practically breathing each others air but close.

They lean in more and more. Now they are inches apart. Amity has her eyes closed and so does Luz but something made Luz feel like she had to open them. She was correct because Boscha and Skara were right there waiting for her.

She had to give them back the crown. She doesnt want it anymore. All she wants to do now is spend the rest of her life with Amity.

Amity opened her eyes to see Luz look a bit worried and so she asked, "Luz, hey are you ok?" "Huh oh yeah im fine. Just peachy." She tells Amity. "I have to do something. It wont take long then we'll be on our way back to your tower to get you back home safely." Amity grabs Luz's hands. "I dont want to go back to the tower. I want to spend my life with you." Luz blushes and rubs the back of her neck. 

Luz nods and paddles back to shore. "Like i said i'll be back ok." Amity nods and Luz kisses her cheek. "Te miro alrato mi amor." Luz winks at her and head off to meet with Boscha and Skara.
