Chapter One

This story begins 17 years after the epiloge in the seventh Harry Potter book. It is told from Nellie Lupin's point of view. You probably shouldn't read this book if you have not read all of the Harry Potter books.

So, the first two chapter are sort of boring, I'm sorry about that. Also the quality of this book will not be amazing, as I am in seventh grade. But I'm trying. I will also try to update a lot. If I made a mistake or could do better, tell me and I will fix it.

Summary:

Teddy Lupin's daughter has come to Hogwarts at last. Nellie Nymphadora Lupin is a metamorphmagus, like her father. But these days metamorphmagus are extremely rare, and even worse, they are hunted. When Nellie becomes a main role in evil witch Vidia's plan to take over the world, she must try to stop her.

I know "to take over the world" is pretty lame, but Voldemort tried to too, didn't he?

"Are you sure you've got everything? All your books, your wand, your robes? Why don't we do we do one last check." We were standing at Kings Cross Station and mum seemed to be in a slight stage of panic.

"Mum I'm sure I've got it all, we did three last checks in the car already, remember?" I reassured her.

"Oh that's right, I forgot. Oh, are you sure you want to go dear, we could put you in that nice middle school down the block."

"No mum, I want to go to Hogwarts." I protested.

Ignoring me, my mum stood up and turned to my father. "Teddy, why don't we just slip her out of here, say she couldn't-"

"Rachel, it will be OK. I'm sure Nellie will write to us." I nodded. "Trust me, this is best for her." My father reassured mum.

The train whistle blew. "I've got to go!" I said. I hugged mum and dad goodbye and rushed onto the train. I ran into a random compartment as the train began to rumble forward.

I didn't know anybody at Hogwarts, so I was hoping I would meet someone on the train. I was happy to see two other girls who looked about my age playing with some type of exploding thing.

"Can I sit here?" I asked. The two girls in the compartment looked up at me. They were already in their robes. The blond one snorted.

"Half blood, mudblood, or pureblood?" The other asked with a smirk. She had brown hair.

"Uh... I- I'm not sure." I responded. What the heck is that? I immediately wished mum had let dad tell me about the wizarding world before I got my letter.

"Then no, you can't sit here." The smirking one replied.

Are all wizards like this? I wondered. That middle school was sounding pretty good now. I looked out the window to see my mum waving and crying, but she was out of sight before I could even lift my hand.

As I hurried out of the two girl's compartment, I felt tears spring to my eyes, too. I wiped them away. No crying on the first day, Nellie, I scolded myself.

I reluctantly walked into the next compartment, afraid of what I would find. "Do you mind if I sit here?" I asked the redheaded girl inside.

She jumped and turned around, a feirce look on her face. I stepped back, preparing to leave. But when she saw me, her face softened. She smiled and stood up. She was slightly shorter than me.

"Sure! I'm Ally Jennings. Nice to meet you!" She held out her hand.

I shook it and said "I'm Nellie Lupin, nice to meet you too!"

We sat down. "The girls in that other compartment asked me if I was pureblood, half blood, or mudblood." I told Ally. "What does that mean?"

"A pureblood is someone from an all wizarding family. A halfblood is someone with one wizard or witch parent and one muggle parent. A muggle is a nonmagical person. And finally, a mudblood is a rude name for a muggle born, who is a wizard or witch born from a muggle family." Ally told me.

"Oh OK, so I'm a half blood." I said. "Mum and dad didn't tell me anything about wizards before I got my letter. I think they were worried I wouldn't be magical."

"Oh that's too bad. I'm a pureblood. A lot of purebloods think that only prebloods deserve to be wizards and witches, but it really doesn't matter if you're pureblood or not. The people in the other compartment will probably be put in Slytherin. I'm hoping for Gryffindor or Ravenclaw myself, but Hufflepuff wouldn't be too bad." Ally then went on to tell me all about the houses.

Ally seemed to know everything. It was fascinating! I was so glad I had found her. I was really excited about Hogwarts now that I'd met her, and I was really hoping she would be in the same house as me.

"Oh my gosh I think we're almost there! Let’s put on our robes!" Ally exclaimed suddenly, jumping up and running to her trunk. And sure enough, as soon as our robes were on Hogwarts came into view.

"Wow" I breathed. Ally was pressing her face to the window so hard I thought the glass would break. Hogwarts was beautiful. And I felt weird, like I had finally returned home.
