A man is in his home, packing a small bag for what looks like a minor trip. He hears a knock at his door and stops. He goes over to his front door and looks out the peephole. The person in front of his door is someone he doesn't care to see.

"Go away, Abdallah. We have nothing to discuss," he waved off.

The door opened slowly. "You forgot I knew where the spare was," Abdallah says while waving it in the air. "I knocked only as a courtesy."

"What do you want?" the man groaned. He turned around to walk towards his room to finish packing.

"I want you to come to your senses, brother. We have not talked in ages and yet, I was still there to protect you when you were in harm's way. Tell me, Kofi. Is that fair?" Abdallah asked.

"You let them go, Abdallah!" Kofi yelled. He turned around with anger in his face. "And you let that devil take them with her! How can you call me your brother when you betrayed me?" Kofi asked.

"I did not betray you, my brother. Sabra is no demon. Sabra is-"

"The woman you love," Kofi finished Abdallah's sentence.

"Don't you do that!" Abdallah exclaimed. "Don't you use your gifts on me."

"That's not one of my gifts. But your cry tells me all that I need."

"How did you ever expect my feelings to go away from her? She was mine before the stars formed and time began. You stole her from me."

Kofi laughed. "You cannot steal which was never yours to begin with, Abdallah. You think as beautiful as that She Devil was, she would have looked at meek and quiet Abdallah? No... she wanted a soul capable of power. You couldn't even speak to her as she gathered water at the river or when she walked with her class. You could not even speak amongst children."

"You should know better than anyone that Sabra does not do flashy. She liked me, not you. Naima, Jabari, and Imani should be mine."

"I'm going to retrieve my children and I'm going to end that demon once and for all."

"You're mad. Those drugs you take, they are not good for you, brother. Sabra is a decent woman who wants to live an honest life. You and her were happy once. Can't you see how these drugs are affecting you?" Abdallah reasoned.

"If I didn't know any better, I would think you to be a demon too. But I know you. Your spirit. Your energy is that of an orange hue. You are a good person, so I will spare your life."

"I cannot die. You placed that offering unto me," Abdallah replied confidently.

"And I can take it away, so i forbid you to follow me," Kofi scoffed.

"I am your protector, not some servant. I am a man, not a child you can tell what to do. I would not dream of going there. You are the fool. You will understand when the time is right."

"You can go, Abdallah."

Abdallah turns to leave out of Kofi's room. Kofi follows behind him. Abdallah stops for a second and faces Kofi. "Tell me, brother. Can you foresee your death? Can you foresee how your blind rage and drug abuse is leading you down a path that you cannot come back from? You could simply stay here and be the priest that everyone looks up to and fear or you can fall dead at your estranged wife's feet. The choice is yours."

"Abdallah, I strip away the power of protection from you. I bind your spirit in mine, so when so ever I may die from violence, my passing will be in your cold, lifeless hands," Kofi whispered.
