The first time Normani Kordei Hamiton walked into my coffee shop, I wasn't taken away by her beauty like I should of been, but she was for sure taken with mine. She first walked in, on the phone, talking to the woman she was going to be taking pictures with that day. Her hair was in it's natural curls falling to the nape of her neck. I could see she was a little stressed but I paid it no mind, I waited until she came up to the register and she hung up the phone. When she walked up to me she wasn't even looking up but when she did, her jaw dropped a little then she composed herself.
"Well you're most definitely the most beautiful girl I've seen all day," She says, a smile coming across her full lips. The girl threw me off, she was supposed to be ordering coffee but instead she was telling me I was beautiful. That was the first time I heard that at work. I gave the girl a once over before even thinking about a response.
The girl had ebony skin, she had on nude lipstick and a cat eye for her makeup, better than any cat eye I had ever tried. She wore a red top with a heart shaped cut, showing off a little bit of cleavage but not enough to be called a whore by a man on the street and a pair of blue skinny jeans and pumps. She had what looked like a camera bag on her shoulder and glasses in her hand. She smiled at me warm and inviting then she looked down at herself then back up with a pouting mouth almost as if saying "Do you want this? You wanna try this? Come get it"
"Hiiii," I say monotone "What can I get you today?"
"One iced coffee, two creams, two sugars if that's okay, one hot chocolate both a large size, And your name,"
"Ha," I say back putting her order back on the register to count up the prices, the entire time I can feel the girls eyes on me, she was probably giving me a questioning glance because I hadn't really responded to her flirting. "Okay, your total will be 7.20, I need your name so when there done you can come get them,"
"I'm Normani," she says flipping her back just a little bit, and hanging me a ten dollar bill "but I still haven't gotten your name, miss."
"Camila," I tell her without looking up from putting her money into the register.
"Perfect, a beautiful name for a beautiful girl."
"I know," I answer back in the same monotone voice "I'm fucking fabulous," I thought the remark would make the other girl take a step back or even get mad but instead she lets out a laugh, and claps her hands together. I look up to see her still staring at me and with a soft twinkle in her eye.
"That you are," She says and then I watch her look me over, from the left side of my shaven head then to the right down to my chest where my dauntless tattoo rested right under my collarbones then down to the parts of my arms that weren't hidden under my button up shirt. I had rolled up the sleeves so you could see my sleeves. My tattoos, some in color like green, blue, red, even purple, while others were in the usual black and white. I watched Normani's eyes trace every single one of them and I felt a little uncomfortable under her gaze, I had never felt like I was under a microscope like this before, and I had gotten a lot of weird looks in my day.
I gave the girl her change and she took it easily, her hand gliding on top of mine, her brown skin was warm and softer than I would've guessed and I could feel my heart speed up just a little bit. She kept her smiling going and said "Thanks," then winked and turned around, taking a seat so she could wait for her drinks.
I quickly moved to the back turning away from the register and grabbing a large cup and the pot of hot chocolate and pouring it in before grabbing a top and putting it on. I sat it down back next to the register and moved on to the iced coffee, almost stepping into Dinah Jane's way, my best friend and my coworker. She just raised her eyebrows and flipped her honey blond hair.
