Authors Note: Before you all go crazy at me, listen to this. SOME PEOPLE WEAR HIJAB BECAUSE IT IS CULTURAL. Okay now we have addressed the elephant in the room. Basically, if you are gonna wear hijab, do it for deen, not because it's fashionable, or it is socially unacceptable for you not to do. I have known hijabi's who don't pray, smoke, are hanging of random guys arms. There are countless hijabi's who go to shisha bars, or hang out in disreputable situations. So basically don't judge me.

A large issue that faces most Muslim girls is the Hijab, which truly is so sad, it's heartbreaking that a piece of cloth can cause such a huge inner turmoil. However it is the symbology that should be taken into significance. If you wear hijab, it means people are going to assume you are pious therefore meaning you need to present the image of Islam in a positive light, humility, modesty, respectability, nobility, honesty, kindness and all positive attributes displayed by the prophet sallah lahu aylahi wasallam, and the companions.
Another point to take into context is that once the hijab is put on, you can't take it off around men you are not permitted to be alone around (other than your husband, your sons, biological brothers, paternal and maternal grandfathers, and paternal and maternal uncles) so regardless of if its eid, your birthday, a wedding once you become hijabi, you cannot just pick and choose between when you wear it.
For sisters who are new to Islam, it is important not to rush into the hijab, because sometimes you can feel pressured into wearing it, or you want to 'shock' society, however this is the wrong attitude, as it is a big decision, you are basically getting rid of your hair, and as I have mentioned, it is the equivalent of female pattern baldness, as you can't bring it back onto the market for public viewing. The style of the hijab can also be food for thought as contrary to popular belief, certain styles suit different people better, and even claustrophobia can come into play, as a claustrophobic myself wearing my hijab tight around my face causes discomfort, however when I have experimented with niqaab this was not an issue. An easy way to combat this problem is to sit down with different scarfs of varying size and shapes, a box of straight pins, a bunch of safety pins, you tube with access to look at tutorials and just experiment.
To add to the platform needed for hijab it is best to ask you close friends and family there opinions, and ease them into it, for example wear your hair tied back, begin wearing bandannas or hats around them, begin covering your hair in loose hijab styles or back in a bun style just to gently coax them in as I always say, a stone takes in more water drop by drop thaif you pour the bucket onto it.
So here are my top five tips for becoming hijabi
1) Make sure your iman is ready and your intention is right.
2) Find the style you are comfortable in, perfect it, you will have to do it at least once a day for the forseeable future.
3) Discuss it with your friends and family
4) Get used to wearing it outside of the mosque and islamic events, by wearing it around the house.
5) Be confident. Reassure yourself you are doing something for Allah
