Every now and then i wake up, realizing there's dangers everywhere. I'm lying next to a stranger, who could kill me anytime. I will have to run away at some point, but not yet. I could need some help the first days.
"Maybe you can take over the watch now?" Lissie says.
"Yeah, no problem" I simply answer, with no intention to become too close with her.
I stay awake for the rest of the night.

It's maybe 6 in the morning when Lissie is awake. The past hour i have been checking what we have got in the bloodbath, my two backpacks and a backpack Lissie got. She was lucky with her bag, we got a small wire, a few breads, a pair of socks and somehow the game makers have managed to give us condoms. I take the packs and hold them in front of Lissie.

"These must be yours" I mock, and she laughs.

The laugh brakes halfway. Her eyes goes wide. Her shoulder starts bleeding. There's a very small, thin arrow coming out from the shoulder blade.

"I suggest you run" I say, and by myself I take all the three backpacks and disappear into the woods, looking back only once, when I hear a sound right next to me. A canon goes off. I turn around and find the girl from 8, my ally, lying dead a few metres behind me.

I suppose she died because of poison. Of course a sting in the shoulder hurts, but you don't die by it. Only if it includes poison.

I run for hours, and I end up by a cliff, not a deadly cliff if you fall down, but a small one, which gives you shelter behind your back. And over you. I sit down and find myself sipping water from the pond under the cliff. My body is exhausted, and I can do nothing, but let myself fall asleep.

The skin is green, dotty. It looks like a dry desert, where the ground is broken. It rise out of the pond, spitting a yellowish liquid. It for sure isn't safe to come close to. My stomach twists. I have never seen aything like this. Not in any of the earlier games.

I take the backpack where I know the breads are inside and start running. I'm obviously not far away from the cornucopia, because I can see the other tributes camp unusually close to each other. I try to be quiet to make sure the monster will possible kill my fellow tributes. It does seem to work until it screams. It has some sort of a donkey sound. If it weren't for it trying to kill me I would have fell to the ground and laughed. But now, all the other tributes are awake. It attacks. Not straight at me. Or any of the other tributes. But at the closest item. It doesn't seem like anything a mutt would have done, it is programmed to kill us, somehow.
That's when i realize it. It's taking away our sources to find whatever we will need to survive. Water, food, medicines.

I see the other tributes run away from the giant. It's at least 15 feet tall. The yellow liquid running down the green body. I do the opposite of everyone except the careers. We run together at the monster, which is looking for more areas to destroy.

The problem is, we have no idea what we're facing. Until it expands and devides into smaller versions of itself. They are surprisingly fast.
I take my hand around the nearest weapon. A sword. I feel the cold iron fit perfectly in my hand. It feels like the sword is a part of me.

The air turns intense, when I hit one of the yellow dwarfs. It's a sweet smell. Like bananas. I feel like I'm about to fleet away, but I can hear the voice to Johanna in my head. "THE FUCKING CAPITOL IS FUCKING FOOLING YOU. GET YOUR BRAIN BACK AND FIGHT!" It feels like i have never done anything else than fighting small yellow dwarfs, it feels naturally to stabb them in their heads.

It takes about 15 minute before i realize how useless it is to try to kill them. It burns when they spit at me. It's like my hands are turning yellow. And the scars I give them heals within seconds. I see one of the careers being stabbed right at her stomach. She stops attacking it, falls to the ground and her body takes form as one of the yellow warriors. As well.
I can do nothing but turn and run away like the other tributes.
It takes me about an hour to clear my head after I have been running from sunrise till midday. And my hands shakes and they feel like jelly. I can't hold the bread. I can't eat. And I'm starving.
