Dipper's pov

I held onto one of the boxes that Wendy had picked up in the store. It was filled with Spray cans all the colour red. I looked around while the others were looking at Toilet paper. I couldn't see Miranda. I put the box down and walked around the store, trying to find her. I looked down several rows but didn't see her. I finally found her looking at something in the toys lane. I walked down to her. She was looking at some kind of cuddly toy. It was pretty ugly but she was looking at it with a strange look.
"Is there something about that toy that interests you?" I ask. She drops the toy in surprise, the fabric hitting the ground with a pitiful flomp. She turns to me.
"Oh. I didn't realise you were there" she bends down and picks up the toy again.
"So the toy?"
"It just reminds me of something my brother and I had when we were young. Brings back old memories you know" she puts it back onto the shelf.
"You have a brother?" I ask.
"Yeah. He's a few years older than me so I don't get to see him often anymore" she explains, starting to head down the lane.
"Can't you just visit him" She shakes her head.
"I'm... I.... My family... We have slightly different customs than h- other families. I was raised in a.... Village. Whenever a child reaches a certain age, usually 15 or 16, they are encouraged to leave and branch out somewhere else" she explains, pulling on her tie.
"So do you ever go and see your family?"
"Of course. We have a few times through the year where we all come home and celebrate different things. Plus my brother comes back for my birthday so that's always fun. He brings the best treats" she smiles, wandering over to the snacks. She looked over them, picking one up and examining it.
"Your family sounds nice" she nods.
"Yeah. We always have a great time when we meet up again" she smiles, sharp teeth showing.
"So do you ever get homesick?" I ask.
"Yeah. I only recently left home back in October. I left a year later than I probably should have. When I did finally leave, I had nowhere to go. Ford found me and offered me this apprenticeship." she explains, picking up a chocolate bar and walking towards the drinks. I quickly catch up with her.
"Yeah. Ford has so much knowledge that I would love to learn" She turns to me with another smile.
"Maybe you should join us for the summer. It'll be fun"
"Wait really?" she nods.
"That's awesome.... I mean. Cool" she laughs. I hear an almost buzzing sound and turn around to try and find the bug that must have been near. Miranda stood straight and turned back to looking at the products.
"We usually go out at night. That's when a lot of the mystical creatures come out" she doesn't look towards me. I laugh nervously, picking up a drink. She picks up one as well and takes her items to the counter. She pays the cashier before walking away with a receipt in hand as she looked it over.
"Dipper. Where did you go?" Wendy calls, running over with an entire pack of toilet paper.
"Come on, we're going to go mess with the Pines" she laughs, taking the stuff to the counter with Mabel and Soos. I look at Miranda.
"I can come along but I won't do anything" she objects, opening the packaging of her chocolate and taking a bite. I smile at her. She tilts her head downwards and looks to the opposite side. I turn away to look at what my sister was doing instead.
