Soulmates are rare yes, but they do exist.

The universe extends all its power to bring them together.

Soulmates get on very well, fit like puzzle pieces, make each other stronger.

However, that was not the case for Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson.

When Louis was 22, he got hired by Styles&Payne's very well-known law company, and he was just out of law school.

He had worked very hard through university, being the only one there with a scholarship and the rest were all just selfish prats.

He had not seen his family for all those three years, but he had promised himself he would work hard to provide his sisters a better childhood.

He had no friends, went to no parties, too much of a distraction he thought.

He had graduated at 21 with the highest honors.

At age 20, Harry was already the front runner to inherit his father's life work, and was more than happy to do so.

He had not gone to university, but instead his father had gotten him all the professors he would need to achieve his masters' in law and start working in his company as soon as possible.

He was after all the heir to a huge fortune after his sister, Gemma, had left the country at 18 and decided to start her own business.

Harry tries to communicate with her sometimes, but his family were not on speaking terms with her for not having committed herself to family.

He had lots of friends, all of very respectable families of course.

His best friend was Liam Payne, heir to the other half of the company.

They had known each other since they were children, attended the same schools and even had the same university education.

But Liam Payne was not who everyone saw him, no.

He had many many secrets, ones he never ever told anyone, not even Harry.

Harry and Louis first met on Louis' second day of work, when Louis spilled Desmond Styles' coffee all over his son.

And no, their first two words were not Oops and Hi.

Their first two words were "Watch where you're going dickhead you ruined my Gucci suit" and "Not my fault you were in the middle of the way you fucking brat" and you can guess who said what.

Harry had asked his father to fire "the peasant" immediately.

And this was one of the very few times Desmond had said no to his son.

"Louis Tomlinson might have not started in a good family, but he graduated with the highest grades I've seen since Zayn Malik. We are lucky to have him here and I can assure you he will be a great addition in the future."

Harry had broken a few things and left the company in fury.

And if you're wondering, Zayn Malik was the youngest lawyer to graduate ever, and opened up his own company at 20, and by 22, he was a worthy rival to Styles&Payne.

At his side he only had a team of ten lawyers and only accepted a new addition every couple of years.

Malik&Horan was also co-owned by Malik's best friend, Niall Horan, who in fact wasn't even a lawyer at all and left a lot of people wondering why he is even on that team.

Zayn Malik had never lost a case in the six years since he had opened his company, as impossible as it may seem, which is why anyone hired by him would be considered a damn good lawyer.

Louis was considered by Zayn, and even schedule a meeting with him, but surprisingly Louis had gone to that meeting and gotten out without the job.

Only Malik and Tomlinson know the contents of that meeting, and Horan too of course, as he never left his partner's side.

Months pass and the hatred between Harry and Louis only increased.

Louis has become now a primary member of the company, as he had won his very first case and not lost any of the following ones and was being called the next Zayn Malik.

Styles Senior adored Louis, and even let him handle some very private paperwork, to Harry's dismay.

The green-eyed boy had lost his very first case, and not given any more cases since.

One trip to New York for the opening of the very first branch for the company in the States would change everything.

For the worst? For the best?

The universe hopes for the latter, and the people reading this probably do too.

But life is not a fairytale, Or is it?
