[Zachary's POV, September 17th 20xx]
___The faint sound of annoying beeps enter my ears. I open my eyes slowly and bring my right hand up rubbing my face as if trying to rub the tiredness out of my system. As my senses come back to me I realize the annoying sound is still blaring on my bedside table. I take the same arm I just used to rub my face and slap it down on the alarm clock that reads 6:40 am.
Removing the blanket covers from my body I sit up in bed, reach under my pillow, grab the blunt I haven't finished and open the window by my bed ever so slightly. I grab the lighter that's laying beside a candle and light the end of the blunt. As I inhale the smoke I already feel my body loosening up. Becoming more aware of my surroundings, I blow the smoke out my window and take a few more puffs before it finally runs out. I light my candle and leave my window open to cover the scent and change out of my grey sweats, slipping on boxers and some blue jeans.
I walk to my closet and grab a simple brown long sleeve shirt that fits comfortably around my torso, loose, not tight. Scratching my head, confused as to where I last placed my belt. Rolling my eyes I walk to my parents room, well now only my moms room, and knock."Who's there?" a woman's voice asks through the door. That's my mom.
Did you not hear my footsteps?
"It's your son."
"Oh sweetie come in." She says. I twist the door handle open and walk in.
"Did you take my belt again mom?" I ask accusingly. She looks at me and ponders for a second, then as if a lightbulb appeared over her head she walks to her hanger of accessories and pulls my belt off one of the hooks.
"Sorry sweetie, it just looks so good with my new pants." She apologizes.
"No problem just return it next time." I shake my head and leave her room with my belt in hand back down the hall to my room. I put the belt through the loops and get it snug. I slip on some socks and a pair of white shoes.Going back to my side table, I close the window and blow out the candle.
Wouldn't want the house catching on fire just because I smoked a little weed.
I finish up the rest of my morning routine by combing through my light brown hair, and brushing my teeth.
I walk downstairs quietly with my backpack and car keys, careful not to disturb the others who so luckily get to sleep in a little longer. Grabbing an energy drink from the fridge and putting it in the side of my backpack finishes all I need to do at home. I make my leave out the front door and get into my car.Just as I'm about to pull out of my driveway a speedy little red car flies down the road causing me to slam on my breaks.
"Goddamnit Kenneth!"
I yell gripping onto the steering wheel. He is such an asshole.
I clench my jaw. As frustrating as that was I put my car in drive and head to school.
____
I stand by my locker during passing time to 3rd period. One of my friends Mikey walks up to me, we do a little handshake then he flicks me. I flash him a warning with my eyes and he laughs.
"Chill man I'm just messin' with ya."
"Whatever, you're lame." I let out a chuckle. As the quiet laughter fades I'm able to hear the whispers of a couple girls a few lockers away.
"There he is, shut up, act normal." One voice says.
"He's never going to like you if your version of 'act normal' is staring at him while you twirl your finger through you hair." One of the others says. Mikey heard too and since he was already facing the direction of who, said person, was coming from he took a look for himself. He shakes his head then looks at me."Who is it?" I ask him.
"Kenny~ Oh Kenny~ Oh god he's so hot." Mikey teases in an attempted feminine voice. I roll my eyes at the mention of Kenneth's name but let out another chuckle at my friends impression of half the girls at school.
