Beep beep beep

Looking around I slammed my hand down onto the button of my alarm clock instantly silencing it. Sitting up and stretching I looked over at the time. Only5:30am which meant I had only half an hour before I had to be at the bakery. I luckily only lived a five minute walk from the bakery so I knew I had time to get ready. Jumping up out of bed I got a quick shower washing my hair with vanilla scented shampoo and conditioner. All my shower stuff was food or sweet scented and I would have it no other way.

Once finished in the shower I turned off the shower and jumped out wrapping a fuzzy green towel round my slim body.Quickly getting dried I got dressed into my pale blue skinny jeans and light green tank top . Sititng in front of the mirror I dried of my blazing red hair. I never dyed my hair I was a natural red head. Looking at my face I saw my face dotted with pale freckles and saw my eyes were there usual dark green shade only a bit more golden right now due to the bathroom light.

Bringing out my hair brush I brushed my elbow length hair until it was dried and had its natural waves. Taking out a hair tie from my little blue tub I tied my hair into a side ponytail ready for the day ahead. Jumping up I grabbed my light blue denim jacket and slipped on my blue trainers. Grabbing my keys and bag and slipping on my necklace, which was also a watch which was in the shape of a heart, I slipped out the door.

Closing the door behind me I checked the time. 6:45. Plenty of time to walk to the bakery where I have been working for the past 2 years despite being only 18. Everyone who knew me knew how much I loved baking as well as how short my temper was. Thinking back I remember how I had been named because of the colour of my hair.

Even when I was a new born I seemed to have bright red hair with streaks of orange shades. Because of this my mother caled me Ira which was spanish for anger. My mother was actually spanish and thought that instead of calling me fuego ,which was spanish for fire which she thought was not a suitable name for a girl, instead called me Ira due to my colour being a sign of my most likely short temper I was sure to get from her. I thought it was nice and unique and altogether I thought I had quite a nice name.

Ira Ventura.

Carrying on I found my self at the front of the shop. I had been working here  so long here that I had become the head baker. So every morning I would open up the shop and start baking for the day ahead which inlcuded cupcakes, cakes and pastries along wiht the odd sanwhich which I would prepare the day before.

Straight away I started to bake our special breakfast muffin which was one of our special savoury muffins. Many people in the morning would come in to buy it as a breakfast snack before work and people seemed to find it quite nice. I was one of those as it woould be what I would have everyday for breakfast.

Once I had finished baking them along with a few trays of vanilla cupcakes and some chocolate I put the muffins along with the pre made sanwhiches in the savoury section along with some of the cake slices I prepared the day before in the sweet section. Looking up at the playing card shaped clock I saw it was only 6:45 meaning it was still another 45 minutes before we opened.

Going back into the kitchenIi made a few trays of strawberry cupcakes then some of our banana bread muffins and trip choc chip cupcakes. Leaving them to the side to cool I decorated the vanilla cupcakes I had prepared earlier along with the chocolate cupcakes. On the vanilla I piped a white buttercream swirl then added the usual confetti sprinkles to add a splash of colour. Then I added a swirl of milk chocolate buttercream to the chocolate cupcakes then added the white chocolate curls for the colour contrast.

Putting them in them in the sweet section display I saw it was 7:25am. Walking into the kitchen I got the banana bread muffins and trip choc chip cupcakes in the display case along with other cupcakes and cake slices. Cleanig up quickly I put on th coffee machine knowing the usual 7:32 customer we always had wouldnt want to wait too long for his usual coffee.

He was a 60 year old man who every morning would com e for a cup of coffee and a vanilla cupcake then he would sit in the corner for most of the day often either reading his paper or talking with the staff inluding me. On quiet days we would often sit together and just chat until I was needed once more. He would come everyday and soon we became a custom to his everyday visits and got used to him so much it almost seems as if he works here himself.

After washing self I walked up to the door and flipped it over to show it was now open.

Walking back over to the counter I saw the coffee was ready and so poured it into his usual mug which we had decorated just for him saying worlds most awesome dad because he was like another father to all of us maybe even grandfather but we thought it would be nicer if it said father on it. Then I added his usual milk and two sugars and placed it onto a plate with a vanilla cupcakes just as he walked in.

Today was already good so what could possibly go wrong, I thought as he walked up with a smile upon his face.
