Chapter 12

Lucas POV

I skipped school yesterday. Today I spent half the morning worrying about what would happen when I saw Harry, the other half of the morning I spent combing my hair a million times to get it perfect for when I saw him.

The weekend had given me time to think. I was struggling between deciding if I wanted to confront him about his feelings head-on or if I wanted to play things off cool as if they never happened. And of course, there was option three, forget Harry and move on to Miss Williams instead(I mean Brook). That gorgeous girl (I mean women). I would be happy with either of them, to be honest. But being the coward I was I went for option ten which was to avoid both of them.

So my plan was to get into school early and hide in the school's supply closet for the entire day. It seemed like a smart idea until I heard two pupil's conversation from outside. Apparently, Harry wasn't even in school today. I exited the storage after they left. Was Harry really not in today and had he skipped yesterday also? I had to confirm this statement.

I saw Tony and Justine, Harry's friends, walking down the hall.  It would be best to ask them.

I approached them. "Hey."

They stopped and looked at me. I gulped in fear.

"Was Harry in yesterday?"

They eyed me, looked at each other then laughed.

Tony got in my face. "You're mad disrespectful."

Justin stalked closer. "Yeah, why do you want to know about Harry?"

I took a step backwards, feeling sightly threatened. "Eh, I just heard he wasn't in yesterday and he isn't in today?"

"And what's it to you?" Tony looked me up and down.

"I j-just need to t-talk with him."

"Why, so you can talk smack to him again? Didn't your ass get beat the first time?"

I completely forgot about Harry and I's argument in Miss William's classroom. It wasn't much of an argument, more so a release of testosterone and built-up sexual tension. Needless to say, I can understand how it may have looked on the outside especially by Harry's friends who might have felt protective of him.

"Maybe he wants to get his ass beat again," Justin added as he cracked his knuckles.

"Absolutely not!" I lifted my hands up defensively. "Forget I said anything!"

"Don't tell us what to do." Tony stuck his chubby finger in my face.

I lowered my gaze. "I wasn't I just-"

"Why are you looking for Harry?" Tony interrupted me."Are you crushing on our boy?"

"Harry isn't gay, gingerbread. And neither are we," Justin interjected.

Thank you for the clarification, Justin. As if I'd go for you even if you were into guys. Not trying to body shame but big, pudgy and spotty isn't exactly my type.

"I'm not gay," I huffed. I have had to deal with people assuming my sexuality my entire life. People were lazy, they took one look at me through stereotypical lenses and decided they knew everything about me.

"Everyone knows you're about that anal life," Justin retorted.

"That doesn't mean I'm gay."

"Huh?"

I rolled my eyes. I didn't date guys exclusively. I would have dated a female, a transgender or any other gender. I was pretty fluid in terms of my sexuality and I didn't want to label myself. I simply loved what I loved. But these idiots wouldn't understand, guys like them could barely wrap their heads around being gay and straight.

Justine narrowed his eyes at me sceptically. "You're gaaay." He annunciated his words as if he were speaking to someone with learning difficulties.

"I'm not."

"Have gay pride man," Tony interjected. "Nothing wrong with being gay."

My eyebrow twitched. "I didn't say there was but I'm not gay."

"Yes, you fucking are." Justin and Tony were laughing and pointing at me as if they were booth in on a secret I didn't know about. It pissed me off.

I shoved Justin. "I'm not, stop fucking labelling me."

Justin stumbled back, eye-wide and mouth open. "Did you just push me?"

"I'm not gay," I stood my ground. "Stop trying to tell me what I am."

Justin launched forward before hurling his fist in my gut. I heaved over in pain.

 "I don't care what you are, f*ggot."

I swung before I could stop myself. The punch landed Justin on the nose and the crack was loud enough to echo down the fall. Tony rugby tackled me to the floor. He pinned me on the ground before landing a punch. The first hit took me by surprise but I anticipated and dodged the second one. I grabbed onto his wrist then used all of my weight to push him backwards.  He fell on his side and I took the opportunity to get behind.

Once behind him, I took him into a chock hold, wrapping my elbow around his neck then using my other hand to squeeze tightly. He coughed and heaved eventually tapping my hand in surrender. I released him and stood up. Tony rubbed his throat as he coughed profusely, looking up at me in shock and fear.

I looked over at Justin who was cradling his bloody nose. Once he saw I was watching him he doubled backwards and held a hand out defensively. "We're sorry dude, damn!"

Justin apologising? That's a first.

That's when I realised the crowd that had gathered around us, their eyes wide with shock at what they had just witnessed. I glurped nervously as they all started whispering and then all once a congratulatory cheer erupted from the crowd.

"Lucas!" I heard a teacher yell over the noise and I whipped my head to face them. "You're in big trouble young man! Principle's office, now!"
