I lie in my queen size bed alone and begin to wonder if this is what it is like to grow up. It's the night before I leave to go to college, and it amazes me how much I have done to get where I am today. I remember the night before freshman year, and my two best friends were lying on either side in bed with me, giggling and playing footsie. I remember the excitement that was rushing through my body for the day that lie ahead of us. I also remember our damp hair from playing in the water. I remember the cool, salty smelling, summer air was rushing through my window as we stayed up talking about what we were most excited about for high school. At that moment, all I knew was that I was grateful to having these two girls by my side.
Tomorrow, I move into my dorm at the University of California, San Diego. I will drive two hours away from my beautiful Santa Monica and begin my life. This time, I don't have my best friends to giggle the nervousness away. I am scared.
