"Three....two... open those doors." Antoinette ordered gently, her mic picking it up with no trouble. The double doors opened just as the maid of honor took her stance. Kimberly walked elegantly down the stairs, her youngest brother holding the train of her dress, her father gripping her arm tightly. Antoinette watched with a pointed gaze, "Slow down the paino playing please Rachel, we are a bit ahead of ourselves." Her whispering was so low that even the werewolves in the room couldn't hear and that pissed Alaric off.
He wanted to watch his mate in action. He watched her nod her head ever so slightly at the maid of honor, Danielle, the three had been best friends for years, who perked up in understanding, taking the bouquet from the brides hands. Alaric didn't understand the reasoning behind that until he saw his little sister join hands with his beta. It was such a small detail but it made it a difference. When he glanced from his sisters hands back to his mate, they made dead eye contact.
He watched as her hand instinctively reached for her other to clasp them together, one of her fingers playing with the single charm on the bracelet he had given her all those years ago. She smiled at him professionally and he returned it though it dropped the moment she looked away, he wanted to stare at her longer.
Mate is beautiful. We should go to mate. I want mate. Alaric, take us to mate. We've waited long enough.
Alaric stood his ground, ignoring his wolf.
GO TO MATE! Ames urged Alaric, his voice growing more urgent.
'Ames, if you don't shut up and watch our sister be married, I won't talk to her for the rest of the night.'
His wolf became quiet after that and Alaric couldn't help but glance back at her briefly, a smile growing onto his face when he saw his younger brother being held in her arms. Atticus was the youngest out of the four siblings. Alaric the oldest. Kimberly and Katniss the middle, Katniss being in high school. The age difference between them all was huge. Alaric being 231 years old and Kimberly being 29 years old. Katniss was 15 and Atticus was 6. They were all full blooded Lycans, able to live up to 900 years old before they started to age normally like humans.
Alaric had fell to his knees crying the day he saw the new constellation in the sky. January 16, 1993. He had fallen asleep in the back of his old pickup truck for a couple hours and when he woke at 2am; there it was. A new Luna Queen constellation. He had went most of his life believing the moon goddess had not granted him a mate but when he saw that constellation in the sky, he fell to his knees and cried. He would finally have a mate.
And when he ran into that little girl in the forest, the instinct to protect her informed him of their bond. And now. Now that same little girl was a full grown woman and his sisters best friend. And he was twenty feet away from her. His bracelet, his Alpha King constellation made of diamonds and emeralds held together by a silver thin sparkling chain, was on her wrist. It was a wonder his sister never noticed it before. Or Danielle. Or his parents. But then again, why would the suspect a human would be the next Luna Queen.
When Alaric glanced back towards his mate, she was gone.
I will castrate you if she's dead because you refused to be a man and go stand by our mate. Ames growled lowly at him, on edge from not knowing the location of his mate again. Both the wolf and the man refused to let her go again.
Antionette busied herself with paper work the second the wedding was in place. Her mic was on in case of emergency and she left her car door open in case someone needed to shout. It was a sight to see. A woman in a cream jumpsuit laying against a box of unused wedding supplies in her sleek dark grey Tesla SUV. Her black almond toe pumps sitting on the ground below her swinging feet as she worked on paperwork.
