I slept pretty good last night. And that's good because tonight was my first shift and Freddy's. I'm both excited and a little nervous. No one likes to be stuck in a building with some robots at night. But they're just toys. -Mike Schmidt

The sun set about two hours ago. I finished the last bit of my sandwich, crumpled up the paper towel, and threw it away. I would have to go to work soon. My first night. I turned off all the lights in my house, except for a little lamp in the living room, then went to my car. I got in, turned it on, then drove to the pizzeria.

Thirty minutes passed by the time I got there. It was now 10:30. I parked my car and walked up to the dark building. The large sign looked creepier in the dark. The mascots looked down at the parking lot. The shadows playing with their wide smiles, making them look like sneers and snarls. I unlocked the door and went inside, having enough of their stares. It was dark; I took the flashlight off my belt and turned it on. Closing the door behind me I walked farther into the restaurant, shining my flashlight here and there. The place looks so different at night. It had an eerie feeling; eerie enough to make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I shone the flashlight on the deactivated animatronics, which was a mistake. They looked terrifying in the yellow light of my flashlight. The robots just stared, the light reflecting off their eyes, making them look more real. My flashlight also cast the shadows off the animatronics on the wall behind them. I did not like looking at them. They put me on edge. I shook my head and continued to my office.

Finally, my shift began. Really I did not have to do much. Just flip through the cameras sometimes. I also had to watch the power. This place really needed an upgrade. I turned off the computer system and looked around the office. I nearly jumped out of my skin as the phone began to ring. I looked at it. Why would anyone be calling at this time? Maybe a parent who forgot something? A missing kid? I picked up the phone and put it to my ear. "Hello? Hello? Uh, I wanted to record a message for you to help you get settled in on your first night." A man said. He kept talking, but I hardly listened. Something about him working here before I did. That he was almost finished with his week. Then greeted me to my job. I flipped through the cameras as he spoke, hardly listening. Until he got my attention. "So, just be aware, the characters do tend to wander a bit." I felt like something within me died. I felt a cold chill on my body. "Uh, they're left in some kind of free roaming mode at night." Mr Afton said once they were deactivated, they would not move until turned back on. I flipped through the cameras again. Everything seemed normal. The man continued talking. He said that if the animatronics saw me here they would think I was an endoskeleton. Told me they would most likely stuff me in one of those suits. I shook my head. If the message was pre-recorded why did the phone ring? This was probably some kid's prank. Plus nothing had  moved. "Alright, goodnight." The man said, then the phone clicked. I put it down and flicked through the cameras again. Still there was no movement. I shook my head, they could not fool me.

Finally my shift ended. I yawned, turned off the cameras, and stood up. Grabbing my flashlight I made my way back to the entrance. I had a strange feeling. Something was watching me. I looked around, shining the flashlight in every corner, but saw nothing. Quickly, I made my way to the door, and then finally outside. I finished my first night.
