"Okay! I'll be right back, I swear!" I say this to Blake as he slams on the brakes of his crappy red pickup truck in front of Walmart. I've had to pee for the last fifteen minutes and all that time I had been arguing back and forth with him to stop and let me pee. But him being the immature person he is, always had to have a reason not to.
I grab my bag and run into Walmart, dodging cars and people and buggies from my left and right. The restrooms, lucky for me, are right inside the door. And if I don't make this fast enough, he'll leave me. That's why I have to take my bag with me.
When I get to the restrooms, there's only one stall open and it's so tiny! But I squeeze myself in there and try to hurry. When I come out I don't even wash my hands, I run out and go through the dodging process again, and lucky for me his crappy truck is still sitting there in the farthest parking spot from the doors. He did this on purpose, to make me take longer, so he could leave me alone at Walmart, surrounded by people. Again, him being immature would do this, knowing I'm not a people person... at all. I mean I'm friendly, but it just takes me a long time to warm up to people.
I run to his truck, and when I'm almost in front of it he tried to run over me, he's done this before. I get in and set my bag back on the floor while Blake silently chuckles. I shut the door and his laughing stops as he rears the engine up and drives off. When we're down the road, I lean my head against the window and watch the trees pass me by. I close my eyes when everything starts to blur. I doze off slowly as I still can barely see the orange shadiness from the Sun's gleam behind my eyelids.
---
A few hours later the I feel the car jerk and my head gently bounces against the window. I sit up straighter, still in my doze and see a building in front of us. It's a motel.
"Why are we stopping, I have somewhere to be you know?" I say still a bit groggy from my nap.
"I'm tired and I'm gonna get me some damn sleep, that's why we stopped! I've been driving you around for the past two days without stopping and I'm tired..." Blake gets out of the truck and slams the door, leaving me sitting there with the cold air coming from the broken back window. He broke it yesterday when he went on the rampage and hit me while we were arguing. I'm guessing he hit the window afterwards. I touch my cheek remembering, right where the bruise was forming.
I jam my thumb down on the buckle and slam the seatbelt against the door. I jerk the handle and grab my backpack from the floorboard, throwing it over my shoulder and step onto the concrete of the lot. I stare down the rusty door Blake is walking into, giving a confusing look he can't see.
As I walk in behind him I say, "Don't we need to check in or something? And how'd you get in without a key?" He chuckles and reaches in his pocket for his pack and a lighter.
"Princess, you really need to start watching tv. This motel has been abandoned for two years." He says, bringing the cigarette up to his mouth as the tip lights. He breaths out the smoke in my face, probably on purpose. I cough loudly bending over. He laughs again.
"Great." I say. "Not only am I in An abandoned motel, but I have cigarette smoke in my lungs and I have the smell on my clothes. So thanks." Blake slams himself onto the bed, plopping his dirty black biker shoes onto one another. I scuff as I set my bag down beside the nightstand on the other side of the bed. I can't believe I have to share a bed with this loser.
"Come on princess, you can't possibly still be mad at me... I mean, it's been a year." He says. I sit on the bed and lay my head against the dusty pillow.
"Yes I am." I turn on my side facing away from him. "Goodnight Blake."
"Goodnight babe." He says. I can literally feel him smirk.
"I told you to stop calling me that." I close my eyes and my breath slowly thins, drifting into a light sleep. The last thing I hear is his sigh...
