"Ms. Aspen and Theodora Green please report to the customer service desk," a voice calls through the loudspeaker.

"Theo c'mon wakes up," I nudge her side. After finding our gate we decided we wanted to grab something to eat other than protein bars and crackers. Luckily for us, there was a small cafe nearby. I ordered a double shot espresso and a small muffin, so I could stay awake on the plane. My logic is that if I adjust to the time zone before I get off the plane it should be way easier to avoid serious jet lag. Theo however loves to sleep, like, a lot. She got a strawberry-mango smoothie with a bagel. This way she could easily sleep the whole plane ride with no interruptions.

"Hm- uh- what?" Theo muttered lazily.
"We have to get to the service desk, "and, no, I don't know why."

She blinks adjusting to the artificial light, "Oh ok?" Still, partially asleep I help my little sister stand up and we make our way to the location.

"Hello, my name is Aspen Green and this is my sister Theodora Green. I think you called us up here?"

"Yes, yes we did," replied the middle-aged woman who was dressed almost identically you the lady at the check-in desk, "Unfortunately we overbooked your flight."

"Oh," I sigh disappointedly at the news. Theo's shoulders shrink I can tell she's more awake now.

"Oh no! Sorry, I should have led with this. You've both been upgraded to first-class!"

"Wait really?" Theo exclaims.

"Yes, really," the kind woman smiles,

"Here are your new tickets. First-class will be boarding shortly."

We hurry back to our seats hugging our tickets. Theo turns to look at me, "We just got first-class tickets," I say
dumbfounded.

"YUH FREE SNACKS AND LEG ROOM!" my sister cheered. I chuckled at her excitement. Don't get me wrong I was excited too, her way was just a little more verbal than mine.

I unzip the second section of my backpack and start to dig through the supplies. I pull out my purple hairbrush and begin to comb through my long hair. If we were gonna be in first-class I should probably look a little more put together. I mean who knows who we could be flying with.
After I was satisfied with my knot-free hair I reapplied some light mascara and cherry flavored chapstick. I've always loved things cherry-flavored. I don't get how some people say it tastes like medicine. Yeah, I guess it can be a little artificial, but it still tastes amazing.

"Attention. All disabled or handicapped passengers for flight 165998, gate D1, please report to the boarding area."

"Almost our turn," Theo squealed. I nod sharing a similar expression. I'm very happy to get First Class of course, but seeing Theo's reaction is far better than some fancy peanuts and warm hand towels.

"Do you think they'll have those fancy chairs that convert from a regular seat to a full-on bed?" I love seeing how something as simple as a plane upgrade can make Theo giddy and smiley. Like when we were visiting the grand canyon instead of focusing on the deep gorges her eyes were fixated on the details of the moon. She liked to believe when people died they would be sent as angels to live on the moon. To her, each crater was a different loved one watching over her and reminding her they were always with her.

"Aspen? You listening?"

"Yeah, yeah. Just lost in a daydream nothing big," I explain, "sorry what were you saying?"

"Oh, nothing just that I hope there are fancy seats on the plane."

"Hope so, that would make the flight a lot easier."

"First class will now begin boarding flight 165998. Please make your way to the doors."

"Fina-fricking-ly" Theo replied to the loudspeaker, "C'mon I want to beat the crowd."

We make our way through the rows of blue seats. The ones that have a thin layer of cushion to provide minimal comfort to weary travelers.

Theo and I park ourselves somewhat close to the front of the line. I run my tongue against my lower lip savoring that sweet cherry flavor. I think it's finally sinking in that we're going to New Zealand. I've been waiting for this day for three years and it's finally here. Theo was the one who first suggested the idea to go after she saw an ad for some inn on the outskirts of Aukland, New Zealand on Instagram. Ever since we've had our hearts set on taking a trip together.

I scan my ticket to grant myself access to board the plane. Theo follows my lead and we make our way down the ramp. The air vents blow my baby hair away from my forehead. Surrounded by the rectangular tube that connects the airport to the plane I adjust my backpack straps making sure they're snug.

"Welcome to United Airlines," spoke the flight attendant waiting at the plane door. I step over the crack between the plane and connector glancing at the cement twenty or so feet below.

"Thank you," I smile handing her my ticket.

"Ah first class, that'll be on to your left miss. Enjoy your flight." Theo and I enter the plane going left as instructed. We pass through a drawn-back curtain revealing much larger seats than we've ever flown in.

"Holy shit," I breathe out.

"Holy shit is right," my sister agrees, " I can't wait  to take a nap."

"Hold on there girly let's find our seats first, ya?" I smirk at her eagerness to fall asleep. She shakes her head and looks down at our tickets.

"We are row six seats A and B."

I scan the rows and we walk toward the front looking for our spots, "There,"
I point to the row ahead of us.

"Dibs on the window seat!"Theo claims the superior seat, but I don't argue with her.

"Go for it."

"Really? You always want the window seat."

"I know, I know. Maybe I just like seeing my baby sister happy," she rolls her eyes at the 'baby' remark, "you better hurry before I change my mind."
