Ding!
A loud notification woke Jennie from her sleep. She grumbled and grabbed her phone groggily. It was the number she had saved as Taehyung's.
Kim Taehyung:
Remember our study date? Are you fine with meeting at honak?
So we're still doing that? Jennie frowned, then tapped to reply.
JENNIE:
Sure, if you're up to it. is three ok?
Kim Taehyung:
yes.
Jennie raised her eyebrows at the curt reply but decided to get ready, doing her makeup fresh and putting on a pleated skirt with a loose blouse. After spraying on her usual perfume, she called her driver and directed him towards the place.
While looking out towards the busy streets, she thought of Taehyung. She hadn't realized it was him, her childhood best friend. He was so different from the shy boy she had left behind after moving, so it didn't cross her mind that it could be him, her Taetae. Now she was wondering how long it would take him to recognize her.
She had missed him so much, but she didn't even know if he was the same anymore. When she looked for an answer to his change in personality, the image of Irene kept popping up in her mind.
And Jennie didn't like it one bit.
...
"Hey," she greeted Taehyung casually when they met, resisting the urge of blurting out everything and giving him a tight hug.
"Hi." He held out a blue bag. "Your coat."
"Thanks. Feeling better?"
Taehyung shrugged.
"Yeah, just a little heartbroken."
"She doesn't deserve you, she was really pushing her limits." Jennie pursed her lips.
"Please don't criticize her."
"Sorry," Jennie sighed, remembering her new place in his mind as a stranger. "Let's get to work."
...
"Done!"
Jennie finished with a flourish of her pen. Taehyung smiled.
"What?"
"Nothing. I just never thought you had this side to you, you usually act so..."
"So...?"
"Um." Taehyung rubbed his neck. "Heartless?"
"Hey!" Jennie hit his shoulder playfully. He grinned apologetically. Jennie was more fun to be with than he had thought.
"Wanna go to Hongdae with me?" He blurted out as they prepared to leave. She looked at him in surprise.
"Uh, okay. Why?"
"My sister's birthday is coming up, and I need someone to help me pick a gift. You seem to have good taste."
