Kumot ( A one-act play)

Kumot

[ In a typical bedroom, with a king-sized bed at the centre stage having two pillows, a blanket, a basketball ring placed on the wall, a closet with clothes at the stage left and a door at the stage right. ]

ACT 1

[ Dim lighted, basketball noises fade in, dribbling sounds get nearer and then gradually fade out. Spotlight focuses on the basketball ring while the lights transitionsto white. ]

(Door opens and 2 guys wearing varsity uniforms came through the door still dribbling a ball in one hand]

(Anton tries to shoot the ball into the room's basketball ring)

ANTON:

Three poiiiints! (in a prolonged way while mimicking the announcer's tone)

CRIS:

Tol, buti nalang pinayagan tayo ng nanay mo no? (sits on the bed)

ANTON:

oo nga tol, teka bihis muna ako ( went to the closet and picks a shirt)

CRIS:

May ekstra ka ba jan? Pahiram nga.

ANTON:

(Throws extra shirt to Cris) Oh!

CRIS:

(tries to catch the shirt, but was not able to get it) Ba't ba kasi tinatapon? Yun tuloy nahuhulog. (picks the shirt)

ANTON:

Ha? Ano sabe mo?

CRIS:

Yung damit nahulog. ( tries to change his clothes)

ANTON:

Cris, nakita mo yun kanina? Ang epal nung naka 21, sarap batuhin, lakas mamangga e, naka dalawang shots lang naman

(said this while dribbling the ball in his hand)

CRIS:

(laughs) oo nga tol pero mas grabe yung naka 55 sama ng tingin nung tambak na sila ng dalawampu, nan-trashtalk pa nga, e ang baho ng hininga. (chuckles)

ANTON:

(laughs) buti nalang di namumuwaya si Erik kanina kaya nakatambak tayo (sits on the bed opposite to Cris' direction, still dribbling his ball)

CRIS:

Oo nga pala si Erik.

ANTON:

Bakit?

CRIS:

Nakita mo ba siya kanina after the game? Biglang nawala. (lies on the bed while looking at the ceiling)

ANTON:

May date daw sila ng girlfriend niya sabi ni coach.

CRIS:

Anak ng! Si Erik may jowa? Kelan pa?! (suddenly stands up from laying and then faced towards Anton's direction, in astonishment)

ANTON:

Ulol 3 months na nga ngayon mo pa alam?

CRIS:

Ulol ka rin, mabibigla ba ako kung alam ko na? (laughs)

ANTON:

Teka tol, bat di ko nakita girlpren mo kanina? Laging present yun ah? (Shots the ball on the ring)
