Danielle's Pov
I woke up sweating and panting like a mad dog. After re-living those awful moments of seeing my brother, Will being pushed around and grabbed by my father, Jackson. I have always had nightmares. What would you expect when he was only 9 years of age leaving me at 5. It was dreadful. I always use to cry and tell my dad to stop hurting him, but yet he never listened. He only told me to shut up and get to sleep. I wouldn't fall asleep to sweet lullabies being sung to me, instead I got my brother trying to fight back only to get more torture from our father.
I went into my attached bathroom and washed my face and shoulders from the sweat. It was only five o'clock, so I decided to get ready for school even though it didn't start till 8:45. After getting changed into a pair of baggy jeans, a loose-fitting top and a hoodie with low "All Star" black trainners, I opened the top draw of my wooden desk and reached in for my Sony camera.
It was 5:20am, when I left for the hill through the woods at the back of my home, where I could clearly see the sunset perfectly rising above the meadow below. I postitioned myself crouching down using my hands to make a tri-pod for my camera. I glanced through the lense of the camera, waiting for the right moment to snap my image of the sunrise. I take calming breaths, eyeing the gorgous view before my eyes. I am very lucky to have this moment all to myself, beside the birds and other wildlife creatures here.
My wait is dismissed by the head of the sun, rising in the opening of the trees. I begin to snap away. Taking dosens of pictures, and not sticking to just one, as if I do, I may not like the out come. I continue snapping away, changing the angles around to give me a variety of shots. Even though it's the same sunrise. A beautiful set creation of clouds, gives the sun the perfect border, and there I see it. My perfect prize shot. I add presure to the capture button and release it with ease. Knowing I now have a creation to call my own.
I look down at my watch to see it is now 7:30am. Wow, I think to myself. Sometimes I wish I could just spend my whole life up here. Away from all the hassle and the drama, but just like the nightmares in my sleep, I have to wake up and face reality.
I start trecking my way back through the woods until I see the back of my home. I see that the kitchen curtains are open, so I put it down to it being my brother being up. Both my mum and stepdad have to be up at 6 in the morning to get to work on time. If your wondering why they haven't stayed behind to find me, it's because I'm always up in the morning before them, as I wake up with the sun. It's been 3 years since we moved to Sunnyville from Ashville, and it was only a couple of weeks of living here, before I woke in the morning for a walk with my camera, taking shots of the wonderful living area around me. Shots ranging from images of the woods, to lakes and sunrises. From starry skies to rainy clouds. Its the only thing I take pride in. That and my music.
You see I like to express my pain through my music and photography. They both tell a story so, they're both what I consider dear to me. They both hold a special place in my heart. So deep inside, that when I let it go I can't show it to anybody. No one other than myself.
Damian's Pov
I lay awake looking at the ceiling of my room. Although its bare, it seems to be more interesting than anything else in this room. Rolling over to my side, I spy my alarm clock flashing the numbers 06:30. I think back to the time when I caught sight of Danny sneaking out her front door in Ashville only to sneak to the hillside a few blocks down the road. Back then I followed her wondering where she was going. I came to a stop behind a tree, making sure to keep out of sight. Only to notice her holding an object in her hands. she brought it too her face and I heard clicking sounds. Just then realising it was a camera. I turned around to make my way back home when I heard another clicking sound, infact it souded more like a twig snapping, and sounded far closer to me than I expected. I came to a still when I heard a sudden gasp come from Danny.
That was the first time I noticed her passion for photography. For anything really. I was always asking her to show me her photographs, yet she always blew me off, saying they weren't much worth paying attention to. Yet every morning I would constantly see her sneaking out of her house, camera in hand, and she wouldnt return till just an hour before she would have to leave for school.
After 5 more minutes of reminising, I rolled out of bed and got into my running attire, to begin my morning jog. Before leaving my room I grabbed my phone and earphones, so that I could be accompanied by the sweet sound of music. I made my way through the house leading to the front door when I noticed a note clipped to the fridge. I went and took it off so that I could look over it.
It read: Damian, I will be away for a couple of days and should return home by the end of the week. I have left 250 pounds in the usual money place so that you can buy lunch at school and pay for any car petrol you may need to get to school. I will contact you if there are any changes within my work schedule so make sure to keep your phone handy. Uncle Fred.
I clipped the letter back onto the fridge and left the house for my morning jog. I began jogging down the street when I caught sight of a female brunette, who looked oddly familiar. 'No way. It can't be. Can it?' I questioned myself. I shook my head and returned to my jogging, unable to forget about the girl I saw. Thinking how she slightly resembled Danny. My Danny.
I returned home an hour later making it 7:40am, which gives me an hour and 5 minutes before school starts. Showering and changing after devouring a bottle of water, left me with only 15 minutes left to get to school, which should be managable seeing as on foot it would take me 20 minutes, which I can easily shorten to only 10 minutes by driving my black SUV. I love my car very much and take pride in calling her my own. Yes, I gave her a gender. What teenage boy, who loves cars wouldn't?
